This is how BA manage 33" pitch ;)

Have you heard that a company has designed aircraft "seating" where you don't actually sit, you flex your legs slightly and lean on a small seat - takes up less space, and the idea is they'd charge you less for that kind of seating. It sounded crazy to me, but apparently they already had orders from some airlines.

If I had acted that way, I'm thinking that my dad would have packed up the bags and we would have headed home (we usually drove on vacations). I honestly didn't care where we stayed as I was so happy that I got to go someplace. Plus, I didn't go to WDW until I was 19. I'm sorry but I just don't get how young girls would know any difference. A ten minute bus ride versus a 20 minute car ride isn't that big of a deal. I guess the only other thing is to reassure them that you're going back the next day.

If the wife and I did not stay in the resorts we would be both very dissapointed and upset. I know after the first night not staying on property I can almost Guarantee that the next night we would. Now this is coming from two big kids. So I can imagine how the little ones feel. If you never stayed on propperty then any where would be just fine and you cannot miss what you never had. Part of the Disney feel and Magic is staying on propperty, there is a certain feeling to it. Simple things like the Disney Songs, Seeing Mickey everywhere, food court and arcade, the lighting and Disney themed resorts makes staying off Disney porpperty miserable once you have experienced it. We drive down to Fla when we go to see Mickey and love once getting there ditching the car and hopping on the bus or Monarail or boats. It's not called the happiest place on earth for nothing.

When I was younger, Disney did not have as many resort options (no moderates, no values, no DVCs, no Epcot resorts even) and it was sometimes difficult to get into the resort of your choice. My parents would sometimes book a night or two at an off-site hotel and then switch to a Disney resort for the rest of the trip. I always found myself comparing the off-site hotels to Disney and waiting with anticipation until we could switch to the "real" hotel. With the addition of all of the resorts, I will never stay off property again. I have to be in the bubble. Otherwise, the real world will intrude (like traffic, having to carry cash and car keys, renting a car, bringing boosters for the kids). We don't even stay with family who live about an hour outside Disney because we want to be in the bubble. I don't blame those kids for crying. I would be crying with them.

what it's like to live inside the bubble,
Good Morning All...Well I never...Was on the phone last night to a buddy just back from his Florida vacation..They have a family of two girls aged 6 & 8 and a boy of 4... This was their second trip. They went last year in September and stayed on site at POFQ...This year they opted for The Rosen Plaza on I- Drive to save some bucks..A great hotel, but their kids were confused why they had to leave Disney at night..They got up in the morning and were in tears that they weren't staying inside the bubble..It was a nightmare,he told me..Out of the 14 days, they spent 7 going to WDW and every time they had to leave, it was the same scenario, tears, tears, and more tears..So here is the thing I thought to myself..If they hadn't stayed on site, they wouldn't have known what it's like to live inside the bubble, but because they experienced this on their first trip, this turned out to be a nightmare. Both parents felt terrible each night,as the girls would sob night after night when they put them to bed..Your thoughts on this please..If you take your children on their first trip, and stay on site..Will staying off site be a let down..?.:(
Hatter, do you mean the Royal Plaza by DTD? or the Royal Palms ?? Both excellent offsite hotels, with shuttles to Disney. Both VERY close to Disney. As far as *leaving* Disney every night... we all leave the parks, but return the next morning. I mean no disrespect, but if this was their first trip, why would they care where they slept? (again I mean no disrespect) If your mate could afford off-site lodging along with park tickets and dining.... sheesh... be happy. To consider a vacation a disaster, just based where you sleep, just seems a tad off to me.

It all depends on you, who you're traveling with and if you have plans to venture outside the bubble so to speak. I mean, my last three trips were all on the site and I definitely saw the perks. Free transportation to the parks and DTD (That means no parking fees and no need to fork over money for a rental car!), less travel time to the parks but most importantly, I wouldn't have to worry about driving and possibly getting into an accident because of unfamiliarity with the roads. I haven't booked a trip offsite but I'm willing to pay more to stay onsite even if it means staying at a value. That's just me though. I'd rather be immersed into the Disney environment like @Dog Ate Mouse says, "Part of the Disney feel and Magic is staying on property, there is a certain feeling to it. Simple things like the Disney Songs, Seeing Mickey everywhere, food court and arcade, the lighting and Disney themed resorts makes staying off Disney property miserable once you have experienced it." If I stayed offsite, it would remind me too much of the real world. When I'm at WDW, I'm not interested staying in a plain old rectangular, skyscraper-esque chain hotel or a chain motel you can find nationwide, because that's the kind you stay in practically every vacation. I prefer something different, something special. Granted, the values are glorified Disney motels some would say but I'd rather stay a place where I can at least photograph the place rather than be couped up in my room with nothing but the TV and shower. But that's just my view.

My kids would be the same way if we stayed offsite. Being that I live here in FL I find it pointless to stay offsite if I am going to Disney for a day or two. Being in the Magic Bubble is sure alot different than staying offsite in Orlando/Kissimmee.

I stayed off site for my first visit and was sucked inside the bubble for my second. I can't imagine staying off site anymore. The feeling you get when everything around you is part of the magic and how plain awesome being INSIDE WDW is is not something you can replicate off site. Yep, you do pay for the magic and yes, it's better to stay offsite than not go at all but if I were to choose, I'd choose postpone the trip and save the extra money needed for the magic to be complete.

I completely understand those kids because this past February when it was time to break away from the bubble to start our second part of our vacation (ten days at an hotel near Universal) I sat down and cried for a good hour and I was a terrible company for the next two days. It's how I am and I'm ashamed to admit that!
