Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon?

I am going to go to a Water Park on our first day in Orlando this September. I've been to Blizzard Beach before and really enjoyed it there but I was wondering if Typhoon Lagoon would be even better. We have no children and enjoy going on the race slides at Blizzard Beach as well as the big tube where you can fit everyone in. I was wondering which park everyone else prefers. Thanks!

They're both excellent parks. You can't go wrong with either. If I were you, I'd go with the one you haven't been to yet (Typhoon Lagoon). "Discovering" a new Disney park is too cool to pass up if you have the chance.

Typhoon Lagoon is the older waterpark. It still has decent waterslides, just not as intense as Blizzard Beach. Humunga Kowabunga is still pretty intense though. If thrills are the main concern, stick with BB,but if you want decent thrills with lush tropical surroundings, then TL is your place.

I tend to like TL better. BB is so bright with all the white.

While BB is newer and may have better rides (subject to debate), TL provides more shade, which may make your day easier. BB is mostly white concrete (fake snow), which reflects the sunlight instead of absorbing it.

TL is covered in lush, tropical vegitation. The lazy river ride at TL is also a boat-load of fun.

I prefer Typhoon Lagoon just because it's a little bit easier to handle on a hot summer day, Blizzard Beach has practically no vegitation. Plus it's worth the price of admission if all you do all day is body surf the huge waves in the wave pool :). Since you've been to BB I'd try something new, you won't be dissapointed.

We have been to both and they each have something different. My husband swam with the sharks at Typhoon Lagoon and they have the giant wave pool which is awesome and lots of shade and sand. Where Blizzard Beach has more fast tubing rides and the Family raft is 2 X bigger than at Typhoon Lagoon. But I would give it a try and if you don't care for it you can always hop over to Blizzard Beach.

I like Typhoon the best. I was to both, but I really liked Typhoon. I don't know why...I think it's because I can swim with the sharks there. Both are nice, but I really like Typhoon and that's the one I'm going to this summer!

Blizzard Beach, definitely. Why? Two words: Teamboat Springs. The most awesome whitewater raft ride. More than twice as long as the one at Typhoon Lagoon.
Then there is Summit Plummet, if you are into really big water slides.
There are many more good things here, as others have mentioned. if, on the other hand, you like to get smacked by good waves (and many people do, Typhoon Lagoon is definitely better)

I really enjoyed the water slides at BB when we went last year, and if there are not alot of slides I'd really miss that, but last year we had my dad and brothers and sisters with us so there were alot of people which made the racing slides very fun. This year it's probably going to be just my wife and I and she's not as big as I am on racing. I'd consider TL because of this, but don't want to be disappointed by the lack of slides. TL does have slides doesn't it? Just not the variety that BB has. Am I right?

You might as well go to Typhoon since you haven't been there before. You can't go wrong with either. TL is more relaxed, but it has a great wave pool. I prefer Blizzard because I like the thrills, especially the enclosed tube ride and Teamboat Springs. :)

I've been to both and I think TL is the better of the two. It's a much more immersive experience to me. BB's theming is decent, but in TL you really feel as though you've landed on some tropical isle. I think some of it has to do with the fact that you can see so much of BB from the road. It just takes away some of the mystique.

5 Year old???

This is the first time that we're going to a Disney Waterpark with our 5 year old son. We were thinking of going to Blizzard Beach b/c my son thought it looked "cooler" than Typhoon Lagoon. Are there a lot of things that he would be able to do there? Anyone know the height restrictions for the slides? He's onlyl 44 inches tall and I'd hate to go and have him be disappointed. I'm assuming that there's some kind of kid oriented playground.

I'd appreciate any feedback! And please if you think that Typhoon Lagoon would be better for a 5 year old, please let me know that too. Thanks much!!!

I'm not sure of the height restrictions for the big slides. However, both parks have an elaborate area devoted to kids between say 2 - 7 years old (BB: Tike's Peak; TL: Ketchakiddee Creek). When we've gone, my sons have ranged in age from 3 - 8 and loved those areas. They also liked the family raft rides (BB: Teamboat Springs; TL: Gang Plank Falls). You really can't go wrong with either park!
