Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon

My family and I are staying at Pop Century on April 14 - 17, 2004 and would like to do a disney water park if we have time. My children are 5 and 11. Which would be the best water park for us?

I'm not sure if this will help or not. My kids are 6 and 9. We've done BB a few times and just tried TL for the first time this past October. We really like BB. Great kids areas, great family tube ride. My kids did LOVE TL though. My 9 year old still talks about swimming with the sharks and wanted to do it all day. My 6 year old liked it, but didn't like how cold the water was. They both loved the wave pool. Unlike the one at BB and most water parks, it is one giant wave every 60 seconds or so. It is great.

So I don't know but I'm leaning towards TL as my favorite. But I'm guessing your kids will love either one of them!

I like Typhoon...tropical...has a wave pool. I can get a beer.

Blizzard has an awesome family raft ride...perhaps better rides.

We like them both. We found that BB is better for younger children (babies tolders pre-schoolers.) Since your kids are a bit older and can enjoy the rides TL may suit them better (especailly if they like the wave pool.) Do they have their heart set on one ride that the other park might not have?

We also found that when it is colder BB is better (more sunshine) and TL tends to have more shade and relaxing brezzes (better when it is HOT!) Also TL has the whole shark warf thing, your kids might really like that. The kiddie area in TL is more for kids age 4 and 5, so that might work for you (as long as they don't mind water spashes in the face.) Also there is a "kiddie" slide for kids around age 5 yours might like. ( my 2 year old would only go down things on my lap and I could not take her.)

You really can't go wrong, they are both great. My 12 year old niece loved BB when she went with us, but then again she was also with our 2 year old. (They both love water parks.)

I like both water parks, so either one would be fine, keep in mind that Blizzard Beach has better rides and was named the number 2 water park in the country according to the Travel Channel (world's best). It depends what you like, do you want fun slides (BB) or huge waves and nice pools(TL). It's your decision, but i'd go with Typhoon Lagoon, it has more shade than BB, and has a more relaxing envirment, in my opinion. But, if your looking for thrills, go to Blizzard Beach, it's your call. Typhoon Lagoon still has good slides, so it's not like there are no slides or thrills, it's just the thrills are bigger at Blizzard Beach. Keep in Mind: Blizzard Beach is often more crowded than Typhoon Lagoon.

Typhoon Lagoon for its theme, layout, and snorkeling possibility.
And their slides are very, very fun. As they are at BB so I don't know why I typed that, haha.

When I can only go to one water park a trip, I usually prefer Typhoon. But BB is always fun, regardless.

My vote--Typhoon. And be sure to ride the tube ride, Mayday Falls. That thing is FAST and out of control.

I think BB is better for little kids. Typhoon seems to have bigger rides, the wave pool's waves are way too big for little kids.

Either park will be fun for you and your family, but I'd have to say go for Typhoon Lagoon. I love the atmosphere, and there's more trees around for shade.... if it's really hot BB isn't the place to be. The park is so bright, it's like your asking for a sunburn :fork:

I think Blizzard Beach is more Disney-like in its uniqueness and theming. I love the melted down ski resort look and storyline. The imagineers certainly had to work a little harder on this one compared to the sub-tropical shipwreck island theme of Typhoon Lagoon, set easily enough in sub-tropical Florida. Throw in a shipwreck and you're there. The wave pool is cool though.
