Blizzard Beach Construction

It’s long overdue if they are finally doing something. Let’s hope they get something different. There are so many slide designs. I’d go with a melted ski halfpipe.

But, you know, themed.

Not sure if anyone remembers this, but Proslide, the makers of the waterslides at Blizzard Beach announced at IAAPA in 2019 that they were working on something at Blizzard Beach, but then the next day the Disney tag was covered on the board, seemingly because Disney had not announced whatever it was they were referring to.
I feel like this could possibly be whatever it is that was being referenced at the time but was never (and still not) announced.

That's a great idea, a water coaster running through a melting mountain side would be cool, lol but we know Disney isn't sinking a lot of money into this
They already built three water coasters at Typhoon and are building one for the Disney Wish, so they aren’t unwilling to spend. Slides are pretty cheap. But I’m hoping for something they don’t already have.

It would be nice if they could add something similar to Sea World's "Ray Rush" slide, where it incorporates multiple elements, like the original one you mention.

maybe they will plus the park with a massive glacier/ice covered mountain similar in scale and slide count to volcano bay....but prob not
I hope their dealings with Proslide turn out better than Volcano Bay did.

This is such a sad water park so I'm glad to see them hopefully add something to BB. It's always paled in comparison to the superior Typhoon Lagoon and with VB right up the street, BB is nothing more than a laughing stock.

See I find that funny…because blizzard is maybe one of the best conceived/executed ideas ever by WDI.
It was just amazing when it opened. But that was 1995…and they sat on it for now almost 30 years.

Same with typhoon lagoon…which was kinda sad until they added the water coasters and the new family tubs.

Blizzards family rides and the mat slides are still incredibly fun against any comparisons

I might be biased since I worked there in spring 2000 as a CP, but I still love Blizzard. The theme is unique and it does have better slides than TL, just not enough of them IMO.

I really don’t think this is for Runoff Rapids as they pretty much got a complete replacement a couple years ago. Of course we also thought that was going to be an expansion, but this back side of the park would be a great spot if they can find the space.

I just hope they theme it well and don’t cheapen the feel by throwing in something on the cheap that has an exposed structure.

Oh I wouldn't go St. Blizzard Beach as a sad little water park. It has some incredible water slides. Teamboat springs is super long. Summit plummet and slush gusher are both extremely thrilling. And mats slides are a lot of fun.

Not sad but does it need something new? Heck yes.

For those interested, the downhill double dipper water slides are not original to the water park. They were added later. So this will not be the first new addition if in fact there is an addition coming. We still don't know that. We hope for that. But even with that hope I wouldn't go calling to current Blizzard Beach, a sad little water park. It stands on its own quite nicely.
