I'm really surprised disney hasn't added anything to the water parks in such a long time. I come from Wisconsin and we have the Wisconsin dells which has the countries largest waterpark Noah's Ark. The water parks there ads things constantly I think disney could do a lot with their water parks.

They could. They just choose not to because they have a captive audience.

The water parks are not major tourist draws, they are more of an extra benefit of visiting the other parks.

Exactly. Maybe once Uni decides to compete they'll do a little something, but not much (if anything) before that.

I was about to correct you and point out Crush n' Gusher, but then I realized that thing is nearly a decade old at this point.

I'm still waiting for Disney to realize how perfectly Frozen fits into the Blizzard Beach concept of a melting ski resort in warm Florida. Their is an entire song of the movie basically about Olaf wanting to go to Blizzard Beach.
My first question when we booked for this year was I wonder if Olaf will be doing meet & greet in blizzard beach. It is the perfect home for a snowman in summer.

Nowadays they don't even let the characters into the parks unless they are the protagonists. Not like the old days where you could meet minor characters like Chef Louis from The Little Mermaid or Evinrude the dragonfly from The Rescuers.

The picture in the link to the Orlando United is just a large pile of sand... Likely, it is the sand that they would put down where the lounge chairs and such are.

Yeah they make more of the guests inside the parks. It's more of an added benefit place to go to have fun

Tell that to the folks who pay $56 to visit Blizzard Beach for the day. I love the Disney water parks, but whether they provide a great experience (or value) really has nothing to do with whatever's going on in the other parks.

How are they a "benefit" of the other parks when you pay to get in them? There are lots of folks who buy single day water park tickets.

I guess what I am saying (so poorly haha) is that people aren't going to vacate at Disney World solely for the water parks

I would love to know what the ratio of people who buy individual tickets vs the add-on combo tickets is.

I think it makes sense to buy individual day tickets rather than add on to your package if:
- you only plan to go to water parks or Disney quest 1 time during your trip
- if you don't want to risk the weather uncertainties and wait until you arrive to see what it will be like

I would think the water parks add-on is probably more popular. But there are a lot of folks for whom the 1 day ticket is cheaper. If you are buying a hopper ticket for a week, and only planning on doing 1 water park day, generally it's a better option to get the 1 day ticket.

And of course, there are tons of Florida residents as well (thought I know there are often discounted FL tickets and FL resident season passes for regulars). And of course off-property guests for whom Disney is just one part of a larger vacation.

And no, people are not vacationing just for the water parks. But I just don't like the idea, that sometimes folks on the forums bring up, that somehow the smaller attractions (basically anything other than the main 4 parks) don't need updates, or upgrades, or need to stay relevant or offer a good quality product/value for their customers. Whether I pay $56 for a water park ticket, $15 for a round of mini golf at Winter Summerland (and Santa's 1997 PC), or $99 for a day at the MK, it should be a good quality product for my money, and has nothing to do with what is going on elsewhere in the "world".

So, yes, I'm all for any upgrades or additions to the water parks. But we know that's not happening.
