Blaster Worm

So how many people got the W32.Blaster.Worm?

Well it has effected tons of Window's users, even Window's Server 2003 which was said to be the most secure version of windows.

Well all day I have been busy running Symantec's Security Response clean up software.

I am now bug free!!!

But if anyone needs to clean it up go to http://www.symantec.com and clean it up. If not, it will send a DOS (Denial of Service) attack on the Windows Update website. Which will slow down the internet for all users.

Well I guess I will always download the Microsoft patches from Windows Update from now on.

If you need some help with this just yell (thats if you are able to use your computer for more then 5 minutes {the worm shuts down the computer after about 5 minutes}).

What's the link to get the patch? I meant to get it the other day, but never had the chance. I didn't write down the link though :(.

Well I have windows 98SE, but the news said that "ALL" Windows version are at risk. That means windows 3.1 all the way to xp.

We got that darn virus...and my mom had the audacity to blame ME! I'm like, "if government agencies could get it, I don't think I could have stopped it"...ugh...at least it's gone now :) It was really freaking me out...that annoying countdown until it would shut off every four minutes or so. But, all is well again :D

Those who got it, how did you get it? Via emails? :veryconfu

It just came through the line. If you didn't have the right security patch...it would just jump on your pc and cause havoc. I know two people who got thier pcs affected. One took 5 hours to repair (wasn't sure what it was when she told me) and the other freaked out, I'm not sure how long it'll take her to fix the problem.

Nope didn`t get it, I have Norton systemworks 2003, which has Norton antivirus.
Haven`t gotten it,but if I did it would catch it! :D

Hi Darrel! What firewall are you using? Norton SystemWorks 2003 is worse than a virus! I know because up until last month I had it on my machine (the Pro version). And no, I didn't catch the new virus either. I use Avast now (it's free).

The Windows Update Site is dragging. I have been trying to download updates all day and they keep slowing up or freezing. I had to start over after teh last 0.5MB woudln't download after 6 hours of downloading.

If you need the updates go to Microsoft.com and click on Windows Updates.

Just some friendly advice. I have used Norton SystemWorks 2001, 2002 and 2003 and I was happy with them.....until last month. I now have the Symantec knowledge base printed out in several volumes! Norton SystemWorks gets way too deep into your system files and it's almost impossible to remove if the need arises (and trust me the need will arise). NSW is expensive, it's a big resource hog and the update service is very expensive. It will one day crash your computer. I know because I've been there and done that. The only Norton program I currently use is Ghost. I understand your satisfaction with NSW. I too felt the same way 3 months ago until I saw the dark under belly of the beast!
