Any company that requires a police escort for its float in the Tournament of Roses Parade (of all places)---is doing something wrong.

Change is coming to SeaWorld.

The captivity of orcas will eventually be abolished in the United States.

The guys in beige and green are actually Boy Scouts. But since I'm gathering you're not paid to protest them, you may not have been aware....

And I'm willing to bet the police walked along more than the SW float. Just a guess.

I must say, this is pretty weak chatter, even from you. But, whatever it takes to make a buck....

Police protection because anti cap people are crazy and do dangerous and destructive things. It’s a shame it needed police protection but it did because of crazy people. SeaWorld's CEO has received death threats from anti caps. People have messaged me threatening messages on Facebook and to several of my friends. Violence gets you nowhere. 19 people that I know of were arrested. I have heard that number was as high as 38 but have not confirmed that

No change is come to SeaWorld Jpatton so get over it now.

IF SeaWorld did have additional security it says far more about those with whom you agree than SeaWorld. Is violence an acceptable strategy?

It is an interesting study in how much controversy a corporation is willing to tolerate isn't it, 919Florida?

Or how much b#ll#cks from those incessantly screeching a particular point of view, for profit or otherwise....

What's more interesting is how concerned the police may have been that some would seek to vandalize a float in a parade.

That really doesn’t make any sense. Just because there is a minority of anti-caps out there trying to cause issues SeaWorld should just up and close down after everything they have done. The anti-caps will not win. You do not speak for all of America. And don’t go posting pictures of polls because they are not scientific polls. You can vote over and over and over again so they don’t hold any ground

The park creates controversy for itself. They have no one to blame but themselves.

This is only one issue of many--but they ran an advertisement that said:

“We do not separate killer whale moms and calves. SeaWorld recognizes the important bond between mother and calf. On the rare occasion that a mother killer whale cannot care for the calf herself, we have successfully hand raised and reintroduced the calf. Whales are only moved to maintain a healthy social structure.”

There is an official SeaWorld television ad on YouTube where they advertise, "Baby Shamu Now Playing at SeaWorld!"

They ran a national, coast-to-coast promotion using the word "Baby" in the title.

Katina was impregnated at age 9. Orcas in the wild typically have their first calf at around age 15.

Katina gave birth to Kalina ("Baby Shamu")and in 1985 was separated from her four and a half years later because the company wanted to cash in on a "Baby Shamu Celebration Tour."

Then you say, "Look, they had to have armed guards at the Rose Parade because people crazy.

I don't condone breaking the law, but my point is when a company advertises what the public is increasingly able to see is a lie---that turns up the volume on the crazy.

Condone? Perhaps. perhaps not. But taking cash to incessantly schill for a movie and cause doesn't exactly put a tamper on those sentiments either....

But again, anything for a buck.

I understand Sea World did all these things that maybe/are questionable I want to know what they are doing NOW! Disney was doing the same thing in the 1980s capturing wild dolphins for Epcot. They no longer do that. When you know better you do better. Is Sea World doing better now?

whales BBQ nicely too

New item at Bands Brew & BBQ? Ok ok, sorry, I couldn't resist that soft lob.

But seriously, when your big point is something that happened close to 30 years ago, you might have an issue. As for the parade float "protection," if they didn't need to worry about vandalism and violence from their opponents, it wouldn't be necessary. You claim you may not condone it, but I'm sure you wouldn't mind looking the other way or quietly congratulating those who would. There are very few who, when impassioned over something, wouldn't do the above, it is a basic human weakness.

Exactly. SeaWorld of the past is not SeaWorld of today. SeaWorld has not captured any animals from the wild for shows for over 35 years. The animals since then are rescues who cant make it in the wild and also animals born there.

I would just say people are . Call of Duty Players sent so many Death threats to the lead designers who then require protect because they change weapons stats. People are violent arrogant people no matter the cause or ideal. They believe that their way is right and that every other way is wrong. History shows us this again and again.

The park creates controversy for itself. They have no one to blame but themselves.

I would like to point out this first off "An independent 2011 Harris interactive poll revealed that more than 90 percent of Americans support the work done by zoos and aquariums, particularly with regard to education and learning".

Also no level of "controversy" or "lies" deserves death threats espically to people who rely on these companies to make a living.

Also a note for arguements states. If you were making a case to the government or any private company with BOLD or Color you would have been laughed out of the room by now. I am not making fun of you but the use of "child" like argument tactics are not well taken in the professional world and do more damage for your case then good.

So I watched Blackfish last night for the first time. So just my thoughts.

The movie really made me mad. I was upset all around. Obviously I felt for the orcas but many of the trainers interviewed just ed me off. Maybe it was the way it was edited to mostly highlight Tilikum. Most of the trainers were saying how bad they felt for Tilikum over and over. I actually yelled at my TV "What about all the other whales?" It made it seem like they only cared about him. I wish the film maker had made the interviews more about all the orcas not just Tilikum especially since they showed footage and talked about other orcas that have cause issues.

Also the movie made it seem like only Orlando has problems with their orcas.

The woman who worked at the Canary Islands park disgusted me. EVERYONE knew that the pools were unsafe but no one did a thing about it. Now she's going to get on film and cry about it.

Felt the rape comment in the trail wasn't as big a deal as the film wanted to make it. Yes all men are "possible" rapists and all animals are possible killers.

Personally I think trainers should stay out of the water. Orcas are just so big they could and have hurt people with out meaning too but I think the same for lions, elephants etc too.

I'm glad they don't capture wild animals anymore, I hope that they have learned not to separate babies. I hope that they can figure out a way to give them more room to move especially when they are off stage.

I believe that a company in the business of family entertainment ought to have a parade float that can roll down Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena without an armed escort.

We have answered this multiple times now so you can stop posting it over and over again. The threats from extremiest are what caused this. The minority always finds a way to ruin good things for people
