Black Friday deals

Nothing major for me this year. I may make one big purchase for my Wife, but she already warned me that I shouldn't spend $$ on anything big for her this year. So I'm kinda torn. I know she'll love it, but also know I shouldn't spend the money.

Steve, do most Brittons recognize Black Friday? Do the deals carryover online? In stores?

And what about Thanksgiving? I know that it is an American holiday, but is it even recognized in Europe? Do you only hear about it on TV? Do you all watch the Macy's parade, for example? And are any of the traditions starting to make their way over the pond? Do you have any special day like it, with regard to thankfulness?

Just wondering.

I ran out this morning and saw 4 groups in their tents outside of Best Buy at 8:30am for the midnight opening.

In terms of Sales, the nearest thing is Boxing Day (day after Christmas Day), and I have know idea why it is called boxing day either.
Because of the Economy many of the retailers are starting their sales early to try and get every penny they can.

As for Thanksgiving, if you ask 99% of British people would have no idea about it. I wasn't sure exactly which Thursday it was, and only really know about it because I made the mistake of visiting WDW once over the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Nothing here. We needed a new TV but the one were set on was not going on sale. It was already pretty close to the lowest price it has ever been so we picked it up last Sunday.
