I am going to WDW in less than 3 weeks, and it will be my oldest son's birthday. I know I can get him a button to wear, but I was trying to come up with any other ideas. I also ordered a cake for him to have with dinner. Last time we went, all of my kids got sick for 2 days and they missed a lot, so I really would like to make this trip special since their first trip was cut short. Just looking for any suggestions to make the trip a little more "Magical":sohappy:

Look into getting a special treat from the Disney Florist delivered to your room! I got one for my birthday when I was younger, and I loved it! There are many different packages you can order. An idea is saying that it is from your son's favorite character- that would be sure to make him excited! :)

How old is he going to be turning? Depending on age, you can try looking into one of the tours that they offer. For instance, I'm going to pay the BF's way for the Segway tour so he and his best friend can enjoy themselves for two hours.

He is going to be 12, I think he needs to be 16 for that segway tour. Thanks for the ideas though, he may be back there for his 16th so he has something to look forward to.:D

Take him to the Pirates League. Then to dinner, which I assume you are doing since you ordered a cake. Our daughter turned 5 on one of our trips, we did the BBB, then dinner at Kona Cafe.

Our son thought he was too old for the Pirates league so to plan for his birthday he watched the planning DVD and looked at some of extras/special things. He then picked some of them for his birthday. He had a great day doing everything on the list below.

Breakfast at Whispering Canyon where he let our server know it was his birthday.

Para-sailing at the Contemporary Resort

Winter/Summer land golf

Cirque de Soleil

Dinner at the California Grill with a cake for dessert

If you are staying for a decent amount of time it might be cool to just give him the whole day to do whatever HE wants. obviously this only works if you're staying long enough to let everyone do what they want though. I remember as a kid with siblings always having to compromise on what we did, whether at WDW or not. Let him choose everything for the whole day. if he wants to ride POtC 20 times, let him!

I am pretty much letting him run the day. He wants to start off in Epcot then afternoon in Hollywood Studios, then dinner at Ohana...already ordered a Mickey Cake. Should be a lot of running around, but he has really earned it.

I always thought booking one of the fireworks cruises sounded like a lot of fun. They are pricey though, but might be worth it for a special occasion. I think all ages would enjoy this too.

The Family Magic Tour is another thing that's supposed to fun, and it doesn't have an age limit, so everyone in your family could do it. I haven't done this tour, but have heard good things about it!

The cake is a great idea - he will like that. That turned out well for me in the past. I also agree with using Disney Florist, I have used them several times & have never been disappointed.

Thanks for all the pointers and ideas!!! Everyone is so excited we are leaving in less than 2 weeks it is hard to get anyone to focus on any planning. (myself included). No matter what we do, it will be magical!!!:sohappy:

Make sure he wears his Birthday button! Last Sept it was our son's 10 B-day.
His button always got him free perks. He and our whole family was chosen to be the "Fish Family of the Day" prior to rope drop at Epcot. We were treated to just us on the Sea's with Nemo, 2 fastpasses, a tour of the Living Seas, and priority seating for Illuminations. He also was chosen for the Captain Jack Pirate Tutorial, he was in the front row with his button Capt. Jack wished him a happy birthday and chose him first. When he wore the Birthday button everybody wished him a happy birthday, cast members, other guests, it was a very magical trip for him and the rest of us.
