They'll give you a paper with the rules, exclusions and limitations when you get it but basically, it's valid at any Disney-owned store excluding food, tobacco and alcohol. You can also use it for tours. So any of the major shops like Mouse Gear or The Emporium or World of Disney, Art of Disney, etc. can take it. Some odd exclusions you might not be aware of include the Japan, China and Morocco pavilions as they are all run by outside companies.

The gift card is currently $75 (I don't know if it will go up when the prices are rumored to next month as well) and while it must be obtained on your actual birthday, it has no expiration date and can be used whenever you want.

To obtain it, simply bring your valid multi-day ticket and photo id to the "Will Call" ticket window in front of any of the four parks. You can not get it at Downtown Disney. You CAN use it with other discounts such as AP's 10% off at World of Disney.

I was wondering what does complimentary ticket media mean? I have read this under their limitations. I will be using a park hopper purchased from eBay. All in all, will I be able to get the gift card?? Thanks

Q: I purchased* a valid Passholder Pass or a Multi-Day Ticket that I will use for admission on my birthday in 2009. Is there anything else I could receive on my birthday?

A: Yes, you have several options which are available for you to select once you arrive at the Park with your confirmation message, your proper valid ID, and your Passholder Pass or Multi-Day Ticket that you will use for admission on your birthday. You can choose one of the following:

* A birthday FASTPASS® exchange card+ for a certain number attractions at the Theme Park you visit on your birthday; or
* A birthday fun card in an amount equal to the price of a 1-day Magic Your Way base ticket* for you to use for certain purchases including select merchandise, recreation or tour experiences, or for Disney's PhotoPass® on-site services at participating locations at Walt Disney World® Resort; or
* A 1-day Magic Your Way base ticket for you to use any time until your next birthday.

*Guests using complimentary ticket media for admission on their birthday are not eligible to receive these listed options.

+The number of birthday FASTPASS exchange cards issued per day is limited and may not be available after 11am. Valid Theme Park admission required. FASTPASS benefit for birthday celebrant and up to 5 members of his/her party.

*Ticket price at gate, excluding tax. Adults receive card in the amount of an adult ticket; children (ages 3-9) receive card in the amount of a child ticket. For terms and conditions of the card and details on participating locations, click here.

I'm not 100% sure but I could make a guess...

I would assume that complimentary ticket media means a park pass that is free for some reason and since you didn't pay to get in you are not eligible for the birthday pass which makes sense.

Also, you mentioned that you purchased your pass on e-bay. I'm not sure how they verify things for your birthday card but if the pass has someone elses name on it then you wouldn't be able to get the birthday card since you have to show valid ID for it.

It would have to be a park hopper pass never used by anyone else or one that has no name or other information attached to it.

"Complementary media" means exactly what it says - free tickets are exempt from birthday offers. If a CM gets you in for free with their Main Gate pass, you won tickets, or some other circumstance where you got your tickets for free, you can NOT get the gift card.

And yes, if the tickets have someone else's name or they're not valid, or if they're not multi-day tickets, you will NOT get the gift card. You must show proper ID and valid tickets to get it.
