Birthday Cakes.

One other little note- it's "somewhere" in the cake talk...but if you order from the GF, you'll likely work with Pat. She's great with some people - difficult with others. Still- the GF produces wonderful cakes (they should- considering how many wedding cakes they also make- more than BW). If you don't love what Pat is saying...she is not the chef...so, you can always ask her to take it to the GF chefs and get a 2nd opinion.

Ok..We are looking at the 2015 calendar and considering 14 nights instead of 12 as the flights leave UK on a Saturday ( school finishes fri 9th oct and returns mon 26th ) So we have this 15 day window..That said we're hoping to do 2 ADRS for Shula's & Yachtsman..16th oct & 23rd..The 23rd is my DS birthday..Would we advise Yachtsman when booking our ADR about a cake for our dessert.?:hungry:

Just saw this- I swear...I get distracted so easily by cake pics! ;)

Yachtsman would be the way to go IMO. You'd order through the YC&BC bakery...trying to remember the contact/chef name...Yvette maybe? In any event, whatever cake you wind up doing would be brought out during dessert (unless you specify something else). If you've ordered the cake in advance, you can just confirm they've got it noted when you check into your meal. I also usually try to discreetly address it with our server upon first contact. If they have multiple cakes in the back...they may even ask you "quietly" which one. Still, they are all pretty well versed in surprises- so I try not to stress too much about this.

Well, you have some options. It can be done as a surprise regardless of how you do it, but it all comes down to where you want the cake and the kind of cake you want...i.e. basic podium cake vs. a custom cake. There's a lot of info in the first 3 posts of the Cake Talk thread...but you can message me and I can help go over some of the details.
@real mad hatter I saw this thread title and automatically thought of Sandy! @HouCuseChickie you are my go to cake authority :)
