Birthday Cakes

Love surprised me with one when we ate lunch last May for my birthday at Le Cellier. It was delicious. Chocolate fudge icing with a mousse of some sort in the layers. Man, it was great. The restaurant even held it in their fridge for us while we walked around Epcot the rest of the day. You can see a picture here: http://www.disney.giveneyestosee.com/mbday2007.html

Super, super yum! :slurp:

Never got one of the super special custom made cakes, just the chocolate one described in the post above. But man, was it good. Rather than have them refrigerate the leftovers after our dinner (like we needed MORE treats in WDW) we each took a big piece then asked our server if he or any of his fellow CMs might like a slice. I can't guarantee they ate it; they may have just thrown it out as part of some sort of health code standard or employee ethic. But he seemed genuinely touched by the offer, & my wife swears she saw him eating it around the corner.

I ordered a cake for my DH birthday meal at Liberty Tree Tavern last April and it was gorgeous! A plain sponge type with lovely icing and I got to choose what colour the icing for the wording should be! Not cheap but highly recommended. They also kept the cake for us while we finished our day in the park.

and we had this one ordered from the contemporary for the wishes cruise. the toping on this one was like rubber, maybe you aren't suppose to eat the design, but the cake itself was great.

We had 3 different cakes on our trip in Jan. .
*The first was for DH birthday at O'Hanas, the cake had white frosting decorated with Mickey Mouse and it was chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling. It looked cute but, I requested a more elaborate decoration and was willing to pay for it but, DH loved it anyway. It tasted really fresh and was very yummy.

* 2nd cake was for my nephews 8th b-day at Whispering Canyon Cafe, unfortunatelty they DO NOT do specialty decorations just the standard flowers, however they were able to use Mickey Head sprinkles instead and it worked out great. The cake had white frosting, yellow cake and white filling (whipped cream I think), it was fresh and tasted really good.

*3rd cake was for DD Best friend 12th b-day at Chef Mickey's. It was decorated with a beautiful EDIBLE image of Tinkerbelle. The cake was all chocolate... Chocolate cake, chocolate frosting and dark chocolate mousse filling. This one was my favorite because I am a chocoholic.

I called the cake hotline number which then let me choose which restaurant I wanted to order my cake from. If you call the main dining number they should be able to connect you or at least give you the number.

I ordered my cakes 1 month in advance and then called back a week before to confirm.
