Birnbaum Guide 2003 Info. (Mission Space info. too)
I got the 2003 Birnbaum's guide today, just wanted to share some of the interesting info. it has...
-The phone number for Pop Century is the same as Animal Kingdom lodge in the book
-Carrousel of Progress and Timekeeper are not listed at all
-Mickey's Philarmagic will be a FastPass attraction
-Information on Mission:Space (see bottom for description)
-Wonders of Life may be closed buring parts of 2003
-Tapestry of Dreams may be changed during 2003
-One Man's Dream is barely mentioned. It says catch it in the theater on Mickey Avenue. This could hint that they may only be keeping the movie and not the rest of the exhibit. Maybe turning it in to part of the animation area like it is in DCA.
-Sound's Dangerous is in the guide even though it was taken away for Get Happy with ABC. They could possibly be bringing it back since the Fall season is underway.
-Oddly there is no mention of the Sorcerer Hat, or any picture of it. They don't even mention the little store under the hat in the Studios Shopping directory.
-River Country IS mentioned, but not is a positive way. "River Country, Walt Disney World's original water park, was closed indefinately when this book went to press. Its fate in uncertain, but it is not expected to be open in 2003.
**Now to what you are all waiting for...MISSION:SPACE...
Actual Release in the book..."Think you've got "the right stuff?" This is your chance to find out! A dramatic, new attraction is blasting its way in to Future World. Its Mission? To give you a chance to experience the intensity of space travel without actually leaving the planet. Set to open sometime in late 2003, Mission:SPACE aspires to provide a galaxy of thrills. It starts off with a white-knuckle blast-off of a spacecraft (which has rather snug seating for four) on a secret mission. The sustained G-Force during the launch is intended to be the most realistic. Once en route, expect to experience a strange sensation. It's not quite weightlessness, but according to astronauts who've felt the real thing, it's pretty darn close. Throughout the journey, you'll work with your crew members (assuming the roles of captain, engineer, navigator, and pilot) to accomplish your mission. In order to ride you must be 44 inches tall and free from back and heart problems, motion sickness, and other physical limitations. Pregnant women should skip the trip, as should those with claustrophobia."
Well here you go...some interesting info. in to what's in store for 2003. Looks like an interesting year!
