Any ideas or legit rumors about what's happening with this refurb? Someone said maybe falling rock projections...I agree that that scene used to be amazing...it has sucked the better part of the last decade.

New paint I would hope? New tracks? new train? New queue? What exactly is being done?

From photos so far..
- Extensive re-paint
- Track fixes
- Entire queue gutted (probably will be changed)

Do you think they will plus up the water effects in the geyser or suken town scene? Like most the other parks have the effect that the train is sloshing water from under it, do you think they'll add this? Or what about that first little scene in the dark? Updated bats? Or just touch up?

It's an extensive refurbishment, but still, it's less than 5 months in length. Space Mountain's was about 7 months. I'm sure it'll be nice, but I'm not expecting anything earth shattering (especially given that much of the work was necessary because the ride system itself needed work).

Yeah, aside from the queue changes, I suspect most of the work will have gone into just fixes and touch-ups. Really, it doesn't need much "plusing". Fix the rocks and I'm happy. Not happy about the projection rumor, though

A projection could be effective. Look at what they can do with MMY.

The funny thing is, I always thought BTMRR was one of the smoothest ride operating systems I'd ever seen. Always more than 1 coaster on the track. A smooth ride. I've experienced very few ride breakdowns while there.

That would tick me off. It was closed in February when I went. The only reason it would still be closed until August is because they waited so long to do anything. But to have both Test Track and Thunder down at the same time in the summer is really, REALLY stupid.

But if it fixes the falling rock scene who can complain. Please god fix that scene!!! I miss it so much.

I can agree with both sides here. On one hand I am happy that they are doing something about refurbing my favorite attractions, and I cant begrudge them for that. But in the back of my head I cant help but think, if Disney just would have had a better maintenance plan, maybe 2 of my favorite rides wouldnt have to be down at the same time. If they didnt let things get to crisis mode before they decide to do anything, we wouldnt see 5 or 6 or more month refurbs. With proper maintenance and upkeep thunder most likely could have been just been a minor routine closing to touch things up.
