Big Thunder Mountain Lighting

I’ve noticed for the past few months that BTMRR has been in the dark. It did receive the new lighting package the last refurb, so I’m wondering why it’s been shut off. I personally didn’t like the purple lighting effects but it looked better than just sitting in darkness. Has anyone heard anything?

They are going for that natural lighting look. Darkness.

Leave them off. Riding Thunder Mountain in the dark is one of my favourite things to do, especially in the back seat, much more thrilling.

I agree 100%. Actually just got off riding the back at night! But the back half of the mountain is lit which has me confused. Poor show I think, just looks weird.

They do have some purple lighting but other than that there is not much lighting projected on the actual mountain. I prefer it bathed in the beautiful Florida moon light anyway (same moon everywhere but Florida has the best moon believe me).

Rode it tonight and while it might be prettier to look at with lighting, it's more fun and thrilling with the lights out. I say illuminate the peak but keep more of it off.

@marni1971 Are there still plans to plus BTM before the 50th? If they're having technical problems with the lighting, I wonder if they will just wait until that Refurb to fix.

There are still plans. Though I’d hope fixing the lighting wouldn’t wait for that. There’s no reason to.

I imagine the issue with thunders lighting is the same problem that the mansion experienced for nearly a year. It will be back as soon as they are ready.

Nothing I've seen about BTR's exterior lamp package is in any way groundbreaking or complex. Unless there's an issue with power load and delivery this should be the easiest of fixes.

If it's what I think it is there is nothing technically that needs fixing.

Totally agree! That was definitely a highlight of our trip in October!
