Cool! From what I have heard, there are going to be like 12 of these on each centrifuge, and the concept art certainly reflects that. Let's see here: 12 pods X 4 centrifuges = 36 pods (that number sounds familiar). If there are going to be 4 seats in each pod, then ride capacity should be pretty good for this one. This will break 1,500 to 1,700 easily, I hope. :)

Early estimates were that the ride was being developed to have the biggest throughput per hour of any of the Epcot attractions. 2000 guests per hour and upwards was being suggested.

The figure I ran for a "perfect world" type of event pushed well over 2,000 ("perfect world" meaning everyone loads and unloads in a timely fashion, no additional time set aside for loading guests in wheelchairs, and no one barfing in the cabins during the ride). When I figured in all of the usual crap that goes in the theme park world though, it dropped to under 1,600. If there are going to be more than 4 seats per cab, then that would help tremendously with capacity.

Heading for the great escape.
It almost looks like four more sets of Dumbo "clones" that only spin really fast and are enclosed
Funny how no official details have been released and already the merchants of doom are chanting their " its cr@p " mantra. Give it a chance if nothing else it should reduce the pressure on TT.

Yeah...just like dumbo....only it spins so fast that it simulates weightlessness....

I personally can't wait for this attraction. It sounds like it 's going to be a great ride with it supposed to be on the same scale as tower of terror and all.

>>BTW, whats the "alien encounter" thing at DQ?<<
It has 4 chairs two facing one direction and 2 facing the other, In the ride you pilot a futuristic tank or something on those lines. It has a driver and 3 gunners. The driver has to worry about saving fellow space men and get to the portal to go back to earth before the planet explodes. And the gunners worry about the attacking aliens. All in all its a fun game. I'm always the pilot and always get 5 stars!!!:D

pheneix..

ALL disney rides have some sort of E-Stop.. only one has one that can be knowingly activated by the guest (Cyberspace Mountain has a button on each side for the riders). It is a liability issue.. and I KNOW that even Disney will sacrifice efficiency (ie-MONEY) in the name of minimizing liability.

Even if they don't make e-stop buttons for the guests, i can GUARANTEE that they will have some way for the OPS CM to see whats going on and e-stop it from the outside. And following with WDW tradition, the remaining guests will get passes to the front of the line, or they will re-ride it after the pukey guest has been removed.

BTW-how do you know sooooooooooooo much about everything that goes on in Orlando theme parks, while the highest connection you've admitted to having are managers (which usually don't know crap) at Universal... what are you, some sort of WDI spy.. hehe

That is what I mean't. I misunderstood him because I thought he was asking if there would be E-stops that could be used by any guest during the attraction (like beside the seats in Cyber SM). That is what I was speculating that they will not have. Of course the CM OPS console will have an E-stop.

>>>while the highest connection you've admitted to having are managers (which usually don't know crap)<<<

Yep, that is what I *admitted* to having. Think about that one...

Anybody who patrols the message boards is an honorary spy by default. ;)

i figure if theres 4 centrifuges, 12 pods each, 4 people per pod, then (assuming the ride is 5 minutes) 4x12x4=192, then multiply by 20 since 5 minutes happens 20 times per hour
192x20=3840 PPH
but thats not including load/unload, so if the entire process takes 10 minutes, from load to unload, then you divide 3840 in half and get 1920 PPH, again this is just a rough estimate so i dont know, but its an IDEA

ok.. i'll assume then you are some sort of UO manager.. but I still stand by my belief that most managers in theme parks have they heads so far up their they wouldn't know what was happening until the first shovel hits the ground.

Heck no! I live in central North Carolina. I'd love to get a position at UO (or any theme park for that matter, even Disney. Anything is better than the crap that is availible up here).

Sad, but true.

60 divided by 5 is 12, not 20. I'm glad I'm not the only one here that can't count. :D

so how, without good sources (you agreed w. my comments about theme park management) do you seemingly know sooooooooo much about whats going on 1000 miles away from you?

I'm thinking these pods will only hold two people...in order for the pods to hold 4 people, they would have to be about 10 feet wide, and you would need about 10 feet between pods--leading to a 360 foot circumference ride, or about 110 foot diameter centrifuges...I don't think four of those would fit in the present building with the proposed NASA exhibit and a queue line...think of it this way--you have four centrifuges, each holding 32--much like a roller coaster with four trains. I suspect this ride will have a capacity slightly greater than Rock 'n' Roller Coaster's
