Big Important Huge Question

Hello All

A question:

I'm going to WDW from December 20-26 and I enjoy being barefoot in sandals. Is it too cold there for sandals during this time and does anybody wear them?

Thank you

Sandals

The type of sandals is an issue with comfort. Yes the average would probably hurt after all day walking. I have a very comfrotable pair of Doc Martens that made my feet feel like walking on air. :hammer:

Wear your sandals if you're comfie. But it does get very cold here at night, and it's already been colder than normal this year. And don't worry about how you look. Everybody looks funny.

Iffy question -

I was at WDW in early Dec '98 and the weather was so absolutely perfect! If I wore sandals, I'd say that the temp was great for them :)

I was also there in Dec 2000 - it was COLD!!!

I would just have to say watch the weather closely, and carry both your sandals and actual shoes just in case!

Did you mention that your sandals were "Flip Flops" ?

Personally, for the parks and rides, I want something on my feet that I don't have to worry about flying off, because they are just slip-on shoes, etc.

But that's just me...:)

Oh gosh, that reminds me of my last ride on Space Mtn. I was wearing platform hoochie sandals, and as I loaded myself in to the rocket I managed to kick my big shoe off, and it fell all the way down underneath the whole track. I was mortified. But they retrieved OK. I had to ride barefoot and then hobble back thru the exit to get my big shoe back. I never thought I would be one of Those People. So, uh, be careful with flipflops.

I was at Disney Dec 2000/Jan 2001. We packed T-Shirts, Shorts etc. It was the coldest New Year in over 40 years! The temp dropped below Zero deg. We had to go emergency shopping for jeans and jumpers. If I was going again I would have to say pack for both warm and very cold. Flip flops don't sound like a good idea for the parks to me but it's your feet. I have some walking sandals that I use for the parks on hot days. Flip flops are ok for water parks but I wouldn't advise you to go to them in December!

Have a great vacation!

Just remember ONE thing...

If you wear sandals with no socks, in December, and it's cold....

...and if one of those crazy ladies with one of those 2 ton Mammoth Strollers from Hell runs over your foot...

...Your toes are gonna snap off like a couple of dry twigs...:lookaroun :(

On wearing sandals to the parks- My last visit in nov 02 I wore sandals every day to the parks. Of course they are Teva sandals that I paid a bunch for.. I had no probs with blisters.

The weather during that time was perfect for them.. But as many people have pointed out - Decembers winter weather is very variable, so be prepared!

Scooter that was so funny it brought tears to my eyes!

As for the question I was at DW last December and I say be prepared for anything. It was cold the firts two days. We had to but the kids sweatshirts. Folks looked very silly walking around in shorts shivering their tail feathers off because they didn't plan. Even the cast members were shivering.

Then it was nice 70-80 degree weather for the rest of our stay in the day time but it was still cold at night. So feel free to bring them but prepared (bring at least one other pair of comfortable shoes or sneakers) in case it's cold or what if rains? Cold wet feet? Yuck!!

Scooter I'm still giggling!!!

I walked out of MK once after dumping my Reebox in the garbage. They gave me terrible blisters (they were relatively new). Lucky for me, I had my old Nikes with me in case it rained.

I have wore sandals to WDW in December and I have been fine. I think they are Tevas (?). At night when it gets cooler, I usually change into socks and tennies and grab the jacket out of the locker.

b/t/w Yellow Shoes - good site!!
