Bought the Blu-ray and just saw the Age of Ultron trailer (#3). My GOODNESS! I swear Disney needs to capitalize more on The Avengers.

Would be amazing to see a non princess property get serious attention these days. Highly unlikely though. There will be no Bippity Boppity Big Hero 6 cash grab, not a Baymax for Breakfast dining location. Not that Big Hero 6 is gender specific, it's not a little girl dress up princess and sell a butt load of merchandise cash cow either.

In fairness, all Disney had planned for Frozen was a temporary m&g. Same with Tangled. They only upped their game after it became obvious those movies had a life beyond theaters. Specifically in the toy aisle.

They can't even promote their oscar winning big hero six without using frozen. Its ridiculous.

Well, when Frozen first came out, they used Tangled and Wreck-It Ralph to promote it.

They also use Tangled and Wreck It Ralph to promote Big Hero Six, but that doesn't support the Disney-is-100%-Frozen narrative people like to get worked up about around here. So let's just ignore that fact and focus on the part we can get angry about.

@#$% Frozen!

If all they can manage to do for Frozen, the highest-grossing animated film in human history, is an overlay of an old attraction, and if Tangled, Brave and Wreck-it-Ralph merited (or Merida-ed) nothing more than temporary M&Gs, then I don't hold out much hope that they'll do anything to honor Big Hero 6, which is a terrific film (at least, my family loved it) but which didn't achieve Frozen-level profits at the box office.

So that's my thought on what they will do (nothing). What I wish they'd have done for these films (and to revitalize the weaker parks) is: a Frozen e-ticket for Hollywood Studios and a Big Hero 6 attraction in Epcot's Future World. My dream would be a wild Frozen "runaway sled" ride where you enter through Wandering Oaken's Trading Post, get in your sled and careen down the mountain, with blasts of cold air, the scent of pine trees and encounters with Elsa and Marshmallow and Olaf, flying through the snow, over the cliffs and into Arendelle -- a true e-ticket, one that could have beefed up the offerings in Hollywood Studios and exited into a park-appropriate exhibit about the making of the film (and of course, a Frozen-themed gift shop). Maelstrom could have been preserved.

For Big Hero 6, I'd love to see an immersive 4D film, bringing you along on the adventures of the whole superhero team as they save SanFransokyo from certain doom with their futuristic inventions (with a Stan Lee cameo, naturally), taking the place of Captain EO in Epcot. There would be plenty of room for a Baymax/Hiro M&G outside the theater, as well.

But that's all just a pipe dream... :)

Well, Tangled and Brave have permanent meet & greets, but then all official Disney Princesses meet on a regular basis somewhere in WDW. Ralph and Vanellope met for... what, 2 years? For a temporary M&G, that ain't bad.

As for BH6, I'd have to double check the numbers, but I think it's beat Wreck-It Ralph and it's close to beating Tangled. It's definitely one of the most commercially successful films they've had. Now, as mentioned elsewhere, it's the merchandise which will determine how long it sticks. Lilo & Stitch, while having a respectable box-office, didn't come anywhere close to Lion King or Aladdin numbers, but gosh-DARN did that little blue fuzz-ball move merch (I know, because my sister has a TON of Stitch stuff), and that's why he has an attraction and multiple M&G opportunities across the parks.

Big Hero Six has indeed outgrossed Wreck It Ralph and Tangled. It's currently trailing Brave and Wall-E. It's definitely a hit. Just not a SMASH.

Well, it's enough to put it in the top 5 highest-grossing animated features from WDAS. Incidentally, of the top 6, FOUR of those have been released within the past five years. WDAS has been KILLING it recently.

Yeah, it's a good "problem" to have.

I am a bit confused over how Box Office Mojo is reporting the animated grosses. I'm not sure if they are adjusting for inflation, but they have Shrek 2 at #1 and Big Hero 6 at #20. Regardless, it did very well. Disney should probably look to feature it in some way. But we all know they won't.

Exactly. When the next princess movie comes out, expect, "From the Oscar-winning team that brought you 'Big Hero Six'"

It is more than just that though, and a simple statement like that isn't a big deal. Their newest add showcases the Frozen easter eggs in the movie as a way to promote it. The movie did so well on its own they shouldn't need to highlight the frozen easter eggs to sell it. That is what bugs me, not the "from the creators who brought you mickey mouse."
