Reminder that Animation is a joke to the Academy

Voter #5: I only watch the ones that my kid wants to see, so I didn’t see [The] Boxtrolls but I saw Big Hero 6 and I saw [How to Train Your] Dragon[2]. We both connected to Big Hero 6 — I just found it to be more satisfying. The biggest snub for me was Chris Miller and Phil Lord not getting in for [The] Lego [Movie]. When a movie is that successful and culturally hits all the right chords and does that kind of box-office — for that movie not to be in over these two obscure freakin’ Chinese in’ things that nobody ever freakin’ saw [an apparent reference to the Japanese film The Tale of the Princess Kaguya, as well as the Irish film Song of the Sea]? That is my biggest . Most people didn’t even know what they were! How does that happen? That, to me, is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen.
MY VOTE: Big Hero 6

Voter #6: I saw all five. I like to sit down with [the young people in her family] and watch them. We all loved Big Hero 6 and there was no discussion, no argument, no nothing. The kids watched that one three times — what does that tell you?
MY VOTE: Big Hero 6

I don't expect a lot for Big Hero in the Parks outside of maybe innoventions for Epcot. I don't think Big Hero 6 reached the expectations that Disney had after Frozen is going to be around the Range of Tangled for Box Office profit World wide. The problem is Tangled made 591.8 million worldwide at the box office and only got a themed bathroom.

Big Hero 6 right now has made 546.2 million dollars worldwide before China gets Big Hero 6 on the 28th. Big Hero 6 is very likely to go past Tangled in Box Office, but it would only be in the 600 some million dollar range World Wide.

I would like to see DHS become home to the non-Fairytale animated movies released by Disney. There is a sequence in Big Hero 6 that really reminded me of Body Wars, and as such, I think the Star Tours/Body Wars/Iron Man Experience type simulators as the best option for that movie. Having said that, I'd much prefer something with physical sets.

Still enough to bump Wreck-It Ralph from WDAS's top five money-makers. Not that that means much; Tarzan was #3 on the list for over a decade, and not much was done with him.

At the very least, Hiro should get an regular or semi-regular meet & greet, preferably in his super costume.

Big hero 6 still has yet to open in some markets and it's beaten tangled domestic gross.
Big hero 6 at 549 million world wide and tangled at 590 million. Also big hero 6 didn't cost 260 million to make. So by all means its already the winner. As for incorporating it into the parks I already some streets of america that could be turned into some streets of san fran sokyo....

I think that Streets of America is already planned on becoming part of Pixar Place, and then the exit will be to starwars land

That's far from clear. In fact, if SoA are bulldozed, I would think it is far more likely going to be for Star Wars than Pixar. There is a ton of space to add Pixar attractions in the footprint of the former Backlot Tour (and LMA if that goes away as rumored).

Since Big Hero 6 just won an Oscar, I thought it would be a good time to ask the question. Who would like to see Big Hero 6 incorporated in the parks? How would Disney do it?

it was reported that DWA spent over a $1M on the HTTYD2's Oscar campaign...that has to hurt.

Don't get me wrong, I would have been happy with anyone winning this year. But I'm glad they didn't reward Katz's gross mis-management.
