and I'm sure your sources saw the drawing sets and ran all the numbers and determined it wasn't possible to build...Not according to my sources who are actual structural engineers.

I haven't been since the "redo"...but everything I've seen and read has given me the impression they built it to be a relatively easy demo for replacement...for when they're ready to take that space seriously. Or am I being too nice?Demolition.
Who's to say they didn't? I'm not an architect, structural engineer, or project manager and yet I have a near-complete set of plans for Lakeshore Lodge. Drawings aren't kept in locked vaults.and I'm sure your sources saw the drawing sets and ran all the numbers and determined it wasn't possible to build...
You don’t get to design development without structural design work. There’s a reason they focused the imagery on one cropped side, because the massive core coming down wasn’t anywhere near as glamorous. Not according to my sources who are actual structural engineers.
The drawings exist as an output of the work. Something that wasn’t designed and wouldn’t work, as keeps being claimed, wouldn’t have such drawings.Who's to say they didn't? Projects don't make it to the stage of a full drawing set if they are not possible to build (I'm a Senior Project Manager with a degree in Architecture Sciences, so I do know just a little bit about the process). It would have been determined if it was not something that could be done or not relatively early in the process.Who's to say they didn't? The project was killed before construction drawings were complete.Projects don't make it to the stage of a full drawing set if they are not possible to build
Thats why I was assuming the previous poster didn't have friends who are structural engineers that looked at the construction drawings and ran numbers themselves. The project was killed before construction drawings were complete.
Is it just me or did roof look better before the most recent refurb?Considering they refurbished the WOL roof prior to the Play project, I imagine they'll still want to use the space once the investment cycle circles back to EPCOT post Villains Land.
If nothing else, I imagine it'll get something on the scale of the Animation Courtyard project happening right now
I think it was more about water intrusion than aesthetics. Is it just me or did roof look better before the most recent refurb?
Thankfully, DAK isn’t open at night so we needn’t concern ourselves over broken lighting at Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Two-Toed Sloth.Communicore was a mistake trying to correct a mistake.
Actually there are many mistakes in this EPCOT renovation.
It’s just sad.
Let’s hope they do better with all the other projects in the next 10 years.
Again, Disney is apparently too stupid to realize they have a property perfect for bringing the pavilion back.I presume WoL remains because they intend to use the building for something, some day. No need to demo if they can repurpose it later.
It looks awesome too. Imo.I presume WoL remains because they intend to use the building for something, some day. No need to demo if they can repurpose it later.
The mistake was tearing down CC West and being arrogant enough that you thought you could do better than the work of Hench, Sklar etc.Communicore was a mistake trying to correct a mistake.

Agreed. It would be a mistake to demo it as you know they'd replace it with a large box.It looks awesome too. Imo.
