News Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

"Future World" and "World Showcase" were much easier for anyone to differentiate than :World Discovery and" "World Celebration." The names feel awkward to say, too. Nature World and Discovery World feel way better to say.

A properly equipped wdw is all anyone should want
Agreed, that’s what fans want, but the fans will take what we can get 😀
I wanted Horizons and Mission Space, but I will settle for Mission Space.
Right now I wish they would get the walls down in EPCOT, just put in some walkways and some astroturf and be done with it already, but I know that’s not gonna happen.
Disney wins again 😀

World Nature and World Showcase are the only two that make sense (and that's assuming the split imagination of visually and physically). They have truly lost the plot with the story and theme of Epcot. None of the "neighborhoods" have a consistent theme or story any longer. All to force some attractions in. It's really a tragedy that could be avoided with better planning and storytelling (and, yes, even using all the IPs designated).

A certain site reported that they have updated the braille map and in park tip boards with the new neighborhoods. I noticed that on the braille map, they have Imagination and the Epcot Experience in the correct neighborhood, World Celebration. On the tip board, Imagination is listed in World Nature and Epcot Experience is in World Discovery. This is an easy fix but come on man….

I know Disney Parks people have some strong opinions about everything, but "renaming Future World" is such the smallest hill to die on. You'd think Walt's last words were "Future World".

I frankly think the names/distinctions are fine. It leans into the "Permanent World's Fair" concept.

There have been even smaller hills that people have chosen to die on at WDW. Any little change has a bunch of people saying its the worst thing ever. And they'll never come back. Its the worst part of Disney fandom.

It's not the names as much as the exceptional muddling that's coming along with them. The park originally had arguably the most overarching, fully carried out theme at the park and "land" level. I have no issue updating that. It's that the neighborhoods and their new names don't really make sense. They feel like some AI- think tank hybrid vs someone who has actually set foot in the park. Is World Discovery about tech? Space travel? Intergalactic sci fi world showcase? Disney Tik Tok?

And the same for a Celebration.

Plus, add in how the segments and transitions are very amorphous - it's almost worse that DHS and Tomorrowland.

I still think pulling Test Track, Odyssey and Imagination into the Spine as "Epcot Center", focusing on imagination, inspiration and creation. Then having a "natural" and either "virtual" or "unreachable" worlds as the two neighborhoods (plus WS, of course). Do proper transitions between them, and it would feel a bit more cohesive.

At least it didn't become the Generically named Discoveryland from Project Gemini..

I think that in the long run, the new names will be fine. I think it would have been better to hold off on rolling the new names out until maybe Epcot’s 40th next year as hopefully some of the construction is closer to completion.

I read World Discovery as "STEM-land". Play! seems to be leaning hard on "a cyber city/tech-world" kind of thing from what we see. It all kind of rhymes with tech/space/design.

World Celebration is Humanities-focused.

World Nature is, well, nature. It's what's on the can.

It all makes sense to me, but I'm just one guy.

For the last 39 years it has been Future World and World Showcase... Without actually expanding the park we know have three different names for the one place...and none of those really make sense... Is Imagination part of World Nature? How is Test Track part of World Discovery? What is Celebratory about a Creations Shop and Soda Samples place?
It is all muddled...
That’s my issue and why I think they should have waited until construction is complete or close to complete to roll out the new neighborhood names.
