Well... "Magic Kingdom" was also quite hyperbolic.
But named by people who were more grounded and spoke louder with their actionsWell... "Magic Kingdom" was also quite hyperbolic.
Agreed, that’s what fans want, but the fans will take what we can getA properly equipped wdw is all anyone should want
There have been even smaller hills that people have chosen to die on at WDW. Any little change has a bunch of people saying its the worst thing ever. And they'll never come back. Its the worst part of Disney fandom.I know Disney Parks people have some strong opinions about everything, but "renaming Future World" is such the smallest hill to die on. You'd think Walt's last words were "Future World".
I frankly think the names/distinctions are fine. It leans into the "Permanent World's Fair" concept.
It's not the names as much as the exceptional muddling that's coming along with them. The park originally had arguably the most overarching, fully carried out theme at the park and "land" level. I have no issue updating that. It's that the neighborhoods and their new names don't really make sense. They feel like some AI- think tank hybrid vs someone who has actually set foot in the park. Is World Discovery about tech? Space travel? Intergalactic sci fi world showcase? Disney Tik Tok?I know Disney Parks people have some strong opinions about everything, but "renaming Future World" is such the smallest hill to die on. At least it didn't become the Generically named Discoveryland from Project Gemini..I know Disney Parks people have some strong opinions about everything, but "renaming Future World" is such the smallest hill to die on. You'd think Walt's last words were "Future World".

I think that in the long run, the new names will be fine. I think it would have been better to hold off on rolling the new names out until maybe Epcot’s 40th next year as hopefully some of the construction is closer to completion.I know Disney Parks people have some strong opinions about everything, but "renaming Future World" is such the smallest hill to die on. To be honest, a lot of fandoms are like that. There have been even smaller hills that people have chosen to die on at WDW. Any little change has a bunch of people saying its the worst thing ever. And they'll never come back. Its the worst part of Disney fandom.
Disney fans go above and beyond. To be honest, a lot of fandoms are like that.

The problem is they can’t spot the big hillsThere have been even smaller hills that people have chosen to die on at WDW. Any little change has a bunch of people saying its the worst thing ever. And they'll never come back. Its the worst part of Disney fandom.
Correct. The ones that actually should be defended don't stand out because the arguments get made for everything. The problem is they can’t spot the big hills
That’s my issue and why I think they should have waited until construction is complete or close to complete to roll out the new neighborhood names. For the last 39 years it has been Future World and World Showcase... Without actually expanding the park we know have three different names for the one place...and none of those really make sense... Is Imagination part of World Nature? How is Test Track part of World Discovery? What is Celebratory about a Creations Shop and Soda Samples place?
It is all muddled...
