Seems like they tore down an old, kinda smelly building with nothing in it…Not even that good.
…and put up an identical, new, less smelly building with nothing in it

It was major investment to focus on enhancing things which would drive revenue only. The Play pavilion was never going to do that, neither was the Jetson's stilt thing. So they cut or redid it on the cheap.I just see “major investment” as more than a dollar figure
Sorry? Investment is investment - the spending of money. Now good investment, that drives revenue..... Not even closeI just see “major investment” as more than a dollar figure
Pretty sure you answered your own question thereSorry? Investment is investment - the spending of money. Now good investment, that drives revenue..... Not even close
With the exception of RAT and GOTG, there is nothing that was done to make EPCOT any more or less of a target destination for guests. It is not significantly more or less attended than it was prior to construction. It’s still an underattended/underappealing park. There’s not enough to do so it’s kinda stuck. And the old issues are still there: stagnation in the country pavilions, wonders of life, imagination, spaceship earth all need a huge capital/construction injection.
it was a statement, but again, we don't really disagreePretty sure you answered your own question there
But before we get off the rails here - since this thread seems to be an impromptu meeting of the “council of elders”…
Don't disagree at all here. At some point the HAVE to finally define the theme of this theme park. If its only going to be Festival world - then focus on festival things and walk away from the World Fair theme. If they want to keep the World Fair theme, then they need to add more country pavilions in World Showcase and update or replace some of the older attractions in the other side. But they won't, hell they won't even keep what they have working well. What I’m saying is they have not positioned the park better for the future than it was 25 years ago when this mess started. That is true investment
Yes, and this time a redo that actually redoes and improvesIt’s still an underattended/underappealing park. There’s not enough to do so it’s kinda stuck. They need a redo to fix the redo.
Not totallyTell me I’m wrong?
Not in the slightest bit, my lord Emperor

Here's the thing. I actually like what was done, in most cases. I like the overall park theme in the center, and Moana. I like RAT and Cosmic rewind. I am okay with losing an outdated building to add a more modern building with stage and seating for Festival shows. But could they NOT have spent a bit more and fixed SSE and Figment? And you could not figure out a way to add a deluxe spinner to UK Pavilion? Seriously?I understand most of the criticisms people have about about the updates to Epcot but personally I love the park right now. Of course I wish PLAY! pavilion didn't fall through and i think things could have gone smoother but Epcot is very fun to be at right now. Certainly more fun that it was 5-7 years ago. Space 220, Cosmic Rewind, Remy, LSOU are the biggest highlights to me but I like the change in atmosphere at the park in general. Also excited for what's to come cause the Test Track 3.0 concept art looks promising and I feel like that SSE update is going to happen some day.
Luminous: The Symphony of Us
Journey of Water is a nice add too. It also adds a ton of kinetic energy and if they didn't include IP, more people here would be lauding it's praises.I understand most of the criticisms people have about about the updates to Epcot but personally I love the park right now. I'm sorry, but that's one of the more dense and frankly obtuse takes I've read lately.Highly disagree. It was laughably outdated, the new show is far better and has much more modern tech to improve
Good god, I sure hope Bob isn't depending on 13 year olds to shape any park goals.Bob thanks you. In fact, Bob is depending on you.
Isn't JoW completely enclosed and nothing can be seen from the outside other than some greenery?Journey of Water is a nice add too. It also adds a ton of kinetic energy and if they didn't include IP, more people here would be lauding it's praises.
I think the center of the park is big improvement honestly. I like the "central park" charm, but I get it's not for everybody.
not in all parts noIsn't JoW completely enclosed and nothing can be seen from the outside other than some greenery?
You can see SSE... for now. But those trees will grow and close it off.not in all parts no
