Big 5 at Epcot

Do you remember when Epcot was full of characters in Epcot-appropriate costumes?

In Future World, Mickey and Goofy were in these aluminum-foil sweatsuit things.

In World Showcase:

Mickey was Uncle Sam
Minnie in a kimono
Donald in a Mexican hat w/ maracas
Chip 'n Dale in Chinese silk shirts and straw hats
Goofy in a beret.


I sure miss them!!

I did see plush figures of those costumes last trip, but it's just not the same!!

i just came across a picture of Mickey and Minnie in the Rainbow Brite-esque outfits when I was unpacking boxes! I laughed so hard...then I saw what I was wearing...hehehe :lol:

I remeber seeing Donald in the Mexican pavilion in like I think it was 1998 or 1997.

oh yea....that reminds me....does anyone remember Suprise in the Sky?? it was the day time fireworks show at epcot....i miss that...they had those really big blow up characters at every country and they are wearing outfits to match...i miss that....

There are some pictures of Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy in their shiny silver costumes from the early 80's in the current issue of Disney Magazine.

I do remeber that and have many pictures of my family with the characters. Next time I go home I will try to find some of them.

Maybe they will bring these costumes back at least for a day on the 20th anniversary! It would be interesting to see the reactions!

I think that is right...it sounds familiar to me too! Of course, that was just a few yrs ago, so in a way I hate to think of it as "back in the day" - it makes me feel old! :lol:

What about the rather large open topped bus that appears daily at the entrance to world showcase - its rather hard to miss.
