Beware of "campers" at MNSSHP

So, if you have a reservation in the 6PM to 7PM window at one of the Magic Kingdom sit downs and are attending the Halloween Party, you may be waiting for your table for a long time. We had a 630 reservation at Liberty Tree in September and by 7PM we were still waiting. When we asked the hostess what was going on, she told us that everyone without passes to the Halloween party was just camping out at their tables so they could walk through the park during the party. It was clearly true, since we didn't get seated until 7:30. That's a little obnoxious, in my opinion, but anyway, once we were finally seated, the service was great and we loved it. The waitress did confirm that no one earlier had been giving up their tables.

How rude! WDW should make so that reservations for a restaurant ought to be made only until 6pm on party days if you don't have a party ticket. Yes, they can argue that they paid for the ticket and they have the right to be there until 7pm, but a ticket gives you access to the park only, not to the restaurants.

slightly off point, but i didn't realize you get escorted out by security.
we have reservations at BOG at 6:30 on a party night in 2 weeks. we are doing the party a different night so don't need to hang out to see anything after dinner. we plan to leave right after dinner and go for a night swim at our hotel. but I have to be honest, the thought of being escorted out by security makes me feel like a criminal. not sure I like the idea of that, it's not my fault you gave me a reservation that keeps me in the park after party time.

You're not escorted out by security. That's ridiculous. You are simply ushered out of the parks by CM's along the way if you do not have a wristband. They are not shackling you and marching you to the exit with police uniforms.

They can at least see the decorations that they otherwise would not see.

Then they should be blindfolded on their walk out;).

In all seriousness, the park closes early the day of special event parties so maybe a lot of people who are not going to the party at night want to get their full 10 hours in. They don't want to waste part of their limited time in the park eating a sit down meal so they schedule dinner at or around closing. A day at the MK isn't cheap and you are already missing out on a nighttime parade and fireworks.

I'm sure someone will point out that they could just make a 7:30 or 8:00 reservation outside the park too.

They don't escort you out anymore. The new magic bands issue a series of electric shocks until you leave.

Last time we were at MNSSHp, no one left. at all. People bragged that they would never pay for the party. Place was beyond crowded. the days of wristbands had gone. Maybe the darn MM+ program will cut down on it, we'll see. But I won't go back to a special party until I know they are only selling x amount of tickets, and removing those that don't buy a ticket.

They are supposed to still be ushering people out of the park around 7PM since the party requires special ticket admission. It is not like EMH where you cannot get on a ride without a KttW card or wristband. At MNSSHP, you can do everything without the band. If they do not escort people out that do not have a party ticket then this will be our last MNSSHP as well.

This isn't new people do this every night in Epcot at Rose & Crown, eat and wait for fireworks. I don't think if I'm paying extra money for hard ticket party I would spend any time sitting down to eat. It's possible they made the ADR before the date of the party was posted and did not want to change to a different night. I do think it is rude to stay at a table when you are finished.
