Better fireworks display: MK or Disneyland?

I'm going to be in the minority here and say that I prefer Wishes to Remember. Both shows are great but for me Wishes is still the superior show as it pulls the story and magic together in a way that Remember doesn't.

The stories between the two shows are totally different. They're not the same at all, one ponders on the aspect of wishes made in various Disney films while the other celebrates ponders on Walt Disney's park. Apples and oranges.

Wow, I find that incredibly odd.. considering Remember is far more of a tale told.. walking through the lands.. etc.. where Wishes is really more a 'theme' rather a story.. it's more just the common thread of 'wishes' from the various disney films. My knock on it is that that whole 'walk the park' section can be a bit long IMO.

I don't think most videos do Remember.. much justice. Tho I did walk away missing the big pyro that MK uses.

I didn't say they were the same show. I've seen them both and I stated which one I enjoyed more. To me remember caters to the repeat visitor using the sounds of the different lands of the park, so it's perfect for Disneyland Guests. Wishes caters to everyone who has seen a Disney film and plays off the theme of wishes coming true and again in my opinion is the better show.

Remember blows Wishes out of the water. I like Wishes, but it looks old and rickety compared to what they do with Remember, which is the best fireworks show I've ever seen. From the Julie Andrews narration to the way all of the lands are incorporated, to Timk's flight, it's a vastly superior show.

Better show.. DL
Better fireworks.. MK

And I think that's because Disneyland has to up the tech anti because they cannot do nearly the impressive fireworks the MK can due to all the locals in such close proximity.

While on one hand I can understand fireworks EVERY NIGHT might be a bit off-putting, virtually none of the locals who live near Disneyland have lived there since before it opened - so it's kind of like complaining about noise at an airport when you buy a home right next to one intentionally or buying a home on stilts in the sea and getting upset that you had no idea it would get washed away, being on stilts and all, LOL.

I sort of see it as the Castle conundrum - comparing them just doesn't work. One is huge and grand in scale, one is a more intimate and quaint. The first time I turned down Main Street and looked straight ahead (instead of up like I would at WDW) to see the Castle, I felt like I was in one of those copy-cat parks in China that almost look the same but don't, LOL. Now, personally, I found it quite charming after the shock wore off (and I *LOVE* that there is an attraction inside), but while I don't like "Walt would do this..." conversations most of the time (especially since they often tout things based on his statements would be the opposite of what they are arguing), I sincerely believe that if he had lived to see WDW's castle, he would have had Disneyland's rebuilt, not letting one park's castle so outshine another.

But that's another thread entirely...

Why is it assumed DL's castle would have been the one to get rebuilt (I don't think either would have happened)? Because it's smaller?

If Aurora's castle were to be rebuilt to be the same height as Cinderella's, so would Main Street. Not to mention the Matterhorn would have to be taller. The castle's size is perfect for the size of the park and Matterhorn is the perfect size. It wouldn't make sense to have a castle the same height as a mountain, specifically a mountain that's so close to the castle. It wouldn't make sense to change the scope of Main Street and Matterhorn just for the castle.

Walt Disney said there will never be another Disneyland. I bet the last thing he would have done was tear down and rebuild his castle to look like one he didn't have plans on building.

Like I said, it's pretty pointless to argue over what a dead-man would think, but in this case - yes, I do think he would have rebuilt it in a grander fashion.

"Tear down and rebuild his castle" is the key there. In retrospect, people see it as a monument to Walt, they would never dare change it because "it was his". But Walt, by all accounts, didn't think Disneyland was a museum. I think the Castle would have seen further development, and while it may not have been exactly as large as WDW's, I do think he would have gone to WDW and been, "Wow, we really need to bring Disneyland's up to snuff - it's so amazing walking into a park with such a big icon."

It's just my thought on the matter - nothing to get offended by. As someone used to WDW, it is quite striking to turn down Main Street at Disneyland and look forward to see the castle and not up. It's not ruining the experience, but it's a marked difference. I don't knock Disneyland's castle, I actually quite like it because it has an actual attraction inside, not an overpriced, overrated restaurant and a beauty parlor, LOL. But I do think he would have "plussed" it - at least by adding another level.

We went to both DL & MK during the 50th Anniversary and i have to say DL had them beat by 3 touchdowns! The 50th Anniversary fireworks show was the best i have ever seen...but the one in DL had so much more going on.They usually have projections on It's a Small world that you just can't get at MK. I'm shocked they haven't made the entrance any better in Florida, it kinda looks like your going to Walmart in that queue. I still think Aladdin is the best show that Disney has in any of its American parks! You don't even feel like your in a theme park its like your actually on Broadway

here is a link if you would like to see it, but trust me you had to be there to really appreciate what was going on all through the park at the same time

Dl does it around the hub.. Mk does it around the entire Park.

Mk is impressive... But I'd prefer the more frequent surrounds Dl uses in remember/magical

Jump to about 8:15 to see how mk uses them.. Realize of course this is the view all the way across the lagoon for scale..

Mk uses multiple, full air burst shells in this mode where DL's hub surrounds are just the fountain burst/single shot stars.

Definitely delifferent types of shows.. I am a sucker for the scale of mk fireworks in height and size. Dl puts on more of a 'show' in that many elements besides Pyro are used

Mk still wins for pure pyro IMHO :)
