Best way to go as a group with kids?

We are planning a trip with friends of ours. We have one two year old and they have one four year old and one two year old. I am wondering where is the best place to stay. Ideally we would like to be able to easily come and go from the room for nap time and we would like to have a separate area away from the sleeping area from the kids so that we can stay up at night and hang out after the kids are in bed.

If money is not a concern, stay in a 2 or 3 bedroom villa. That way you have privacy, kids in a separate room and a living room tohang out in after they have gone to bed.
The Epcot area villas will have a boat to Epcot and DHS.

I would say either the Bay Lake Tower in an one bedroom or two. In one bedroom the couch is a pull out so that can be your second bed. Or the Villas near Epcot. Another option is to get a room with a balcony. We have done this and when the kids are asleep we go out on the balcony.

I have to say a few times that we planned for naps it really never happened on most days. We did Disney with my son at 16 months and he napped throughout the day in the park. A few times hubby or I would sit while he slept and the other took my daughter on the rides.

We always thought that we would need this, but never did. We are always just as tired as the kids! The few times we did hang out a little bit (maybe an hour?), we were on a balcony in a deluxe room or just outside our room in a value resort.

Your budget is going to be your determining factor. Disney has many resorts with multi-room accommodations that are close to the parks but few of them come in at what most will consider reasonably priced. If you would like to forward me your dates and details I would be more than happy to put some numbers together for you so you can see what options will fit your needs and budget.

Sounds like us. Our family is DD 6, DS 3, and DD 1. I know exactly what you mean wanting to have separate rooms for sleeping. We love to have this on our trips and always do. But like above posts say you will need to plan on spending quite a bit more for this luxury. Our new favorite place to stay is Bay Lake Towers right next to MK. The convenience of walking to Magic Kingdom or hopping on the monorail cannot be beat for young families. Especially your ages listed, you will be spending the most time in MK.
Cheaper villa options can be found at Saratoga Springs and Old Key West. An even cheaper option would be the Cabins at Fort Wilderness.
So the number one thing to plan is your resort budget and go from there!

We will be trying out the studio at the Polynesian for our family for 3 nights in August before moving over to BLT for another 8. I am curious to see how the resting/pool schedule works out with the one room arrangement.
