We will be staying at Port Orleans Riverside in February and wanted to go one evening to the BoardWalk. There doesn't seem to be a straightforward way of getting there and back. Any suggestions?

Best way to get to BoardWalk from POR?

We have used Uber in the past and been very happy. If you never used them before your first ride is free!
From what I remember is was about 7.50 each way between Pop and Wilderness Lodge(Dinner) and the convenience was priceless. Longest we waited was 5 minutes for a ride. It would be by far the quickest way..
Or you could take a bus from POR to Hollywood Studios and then take the bus from Hollywood studios to Boardwallk..
One other option is take the bus to Hollywood Studios and then it's about a ten minute walk or 5 minute boat ride to the Boardwalk..

Agreed with the previous poster - Uber will be the most direct route, with a park-to-hotel bus transfer as your second option. (You can always do the river cruise to DS then grab a bus to the Boardwalk, but that will be a little longer of a trip.)
My vote: Uber. Then you're not constricted by bus schedules and can stay as long as you'd like.
