Best Way To Get from MK To Hoop Dee Doo

I just want to say that this is my first post and my family is going to WDW in September. We are planning one evening show at the Hoop Dee Doo and would be interested to know the easiest way to get there from either the MK or the Contemporary where we are staying.

I want to say that finding this web site is like finding gold! The information here is priceless and cannot be replicated anywhere else!

Thanks so much for such a great bulletin board/forum!

First of all... welcome to the boards!

The from the MK you could either take the bus to Fort Wilderness, or the buts they have running over there. I'm not sure how often they leave and pick up though.

I dont think the boats stop at the Contemporary, however... so I think the easiest way would be the bus or the boat from MK. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong though!

Welcome to the boards SamIam!!

If you are coming from the Contemporary then just go to the boat dock behind the resort, just past the pool area and hop on a boat. It will stop at the Wilderness Lodge and then go on to Fort Wilderness where the Hoop-de-doo is. After the show just catch another boat back to the Contemporary.

If you are coming from MK then you can hop on the monorail to the Contemporary and do the above or you can catch the boat at the dock in the MK right outside the entrance and take it to Fort Wilderness.

Either way is very easy and fun! Good luck!

Thank you so much for the replies so quickly! So, it appears that I have several choices and for that I am grateful. So far, the Contemporary seems to be a great choice of hotel. It seems to have so many transportation options!

Thanks again!

You did choose a great hotel!! We always enjoy our stays there. Another terrific thing about the Contemporary is the walkway to MK.

Walkway? Your kidding! I need to do a lot of research here don't I? I was not aware of a walkway, I thought we would just take the monorail. If I can walk over, that would be great!

It's definately great in the mornings...we usually ride the monorail back at the end of the day. It usually takes about 10 minutes to walk but, it is a nice change of pace.

Yeah, I make use of the walkway all the time. It definately beats trying to fight your way through the crowds, and then waiting for the monorail. It's definately a quicker way to get to the Contemporary from MK.

Stick with the boats. They make for a very relaxing ride especially at sunset.

Actually I do think that will be the way to go. We are booked for the 7:15 show, so it should be perfect. I know my family will love the idea of a boat ride. I didn't realize the boats traveled to Fort Wilderness, so this is going to be a great evening!!

Thanks again for your speedy answers.

You may have to make a stop at the Wilderness Lodge first... I can't figure out the pattern because sometimes we go to the WL first and others to Fort Wilderness. Either way you can't go wrong. Give yourself plenty of time to get over there... about an hour because you never know when the boats will arrive. If you get there too early wander around, there is plenty to see & do.

I'd definitely reccommend the boats. They'll drop you off at Fort Wilderness right by Pioneer Hall where HDD is. When you get off, just follow the path and veer to the right, can't miss it!

Agreed. We got there WAY early and were able to just poke around the Ranch and things. The best was sitting on the porch in the rocking chairs and just relaxing. Grab a drink from the bar and sip. AAahhhhhhh :D. I hope you enjoy the show, we LOVED it! Try the Sangria!! :slurp:

The boat ride at night is very pleasant. If you time it right, you may have a chance to see Wishes from the water, which is cool. Or you may catch the water pageant on its trip around the lagoon. It's cheesy, but we LOVE that show! I have to see it every trip. :)

As far as the walkway to the MK, we walk it often. Monorail runs from the Contemporary stopping at the TTC, then the Poly then the GF then the MK and could take 15 - 20 minutes. Walkway will take you to MK without making 3 other stops first. It is a good idea to take the Monorail trip at least once to the MK because you get to hear the script for all the other resorts. We love the Poly stop, "Aloha and Welcome aboard!"

Welcome to the boards. The best people, with the best info.

Again, I just wanted to thank you for all the great tips and responses. I have had a dozen questions since I started planning this trip and I have the Official and Unofficial WDW Guides that I have read numerous times, but sometimes, you need someone's personal experience to get the right answer.

Oh and the sangria sounds perfect!! Thanks for the tip!!

From the Magic Kingdom you can simply take the bus to Fort Wilderness. Once at Fort Wilderness the bus drops you at the front depot. You will then need to get an internal bus to Pioneer Hall because the hall is not within walking distance. From the Contemporary you can take a boat to Fort Wilderness. The dock at Fort Wilderness is in the back of the grounds right near Pioneer Hall.

Hoop dee Doo is an excellent show and the food is really good.

Boats are the best way to go! Its a nice relaxing time, if you've given yourself enough time. If you cut it close you'll run late and be all stressed out.
Get there early and you WILL enjoy the ride, the show, and the whole night!
