Best way to/from MCO (airport)

Okay, I'm feeling weird for asking this question since it sounds too newbish. I did a search on Disney's website for directions to and from MCO (orlando airport) and I couldn't find anything other than directions to golf courses. Would someone be so kind as to give us the best route to the park?

Also, I remember from a while back a CM told us the best route getting back to MCO was to take the EPCOT exit and follow some signs for a road. I don't remember much after that. Again I appreciate any assistance on this subject

Thank you in advance.

Are you flying and getting a rental car? If so, the rental car people will give you great directions. If you are looking for another type of transportation, there are many limo/car services with one-way and round trip transportation from MCO to the Disney resort hotels. We've used yourride in the past as they were a WDWMagic sponsor. Now Quicksilver Tours and Transportation is a site sponsor. We haven't decided which car service to use this time. The only service we have ruled out for future transportation is the Mears Shuttle. We've had too many bad experiences with Mears.

There's a toll road you can take that comes out right by Disney which is probably the easiest.

However I usually take a toll road (can't remember which one because it's been 7 months since I was there. I always recognize it when I see the signs. I hope someone else knows) but you only pay like 75 cents and get off at sand lake road which is like the second exit. If you continue on Sand Lake you'll eventually come to I-4 near Universal. Get on I-4 West and it'll take you straight to Disney.

I hope this helps at least a little. Maybe someone else will know which exit from the airport is the right road. If all else fails you can ask at the airport for the best way to get to sand lake road. I did that once when I had to park at the satelite lot and was unsure of the best route.

I assume you're renting a car, since a cab/bus wouldn't require your directions. As such, just retrofit these generic directions to whichever company you're renting from. They aren't all located in the same chunk of land. Some are still on the immediate AP property while others have relocated to right outside and are a 5min bus ride.

The easiest/quickest way is to follow the Airport Blvd SE road down through the AP property and out the southern entrance. Once off the AP property you'll hit an overpass which is tollroad 417(the "greenway"). Get on that heading towards Disney. I forget the exact signage, but since thousands of people are in your shoes at this point, it must be blatently obvious, but you want to head right, which is the onramp before the overpass, as opposed to going under it and entering to the left.
Its exit 17 that you're getting on at.

You'll hit a few toll plazas but avoiding the Universal/Sea World area of I-4 traffic is well worth it.

Take exit 6, which is the International Drive exit. But if you're used to "International Drive" this won't look familar, since its the lower end of I-Drive. The main intersection you'll hit is the crossroad of 535. But don't go left or right unless you aren't staying on property. Head straight past the Marriott World Center and you should recognize where you are from there.

If you somehow get your car and then have no clue how to get back through to the AP's south entrance(APBLVDSE) then simply take the Beeline Xpressway(528) and you'll then flow into I-4 south if you stay to the left. But you stand a good chance of getting stuck in traffic going this way and regardless, its much more congested.

I think the toll road you are talking about is Toll 417 from the airport. If memory serves me right, you will have to pay two tolls going one way, and I think they are a dollar for each toll.

Toll road is 417 as stated before. We take that route & make a stop at the Super Target ( Orange Blossom Trail exit) to get provisions on our trips. There are signs everywhere to follow returning to the airport. If you still have doubts, go to mapquest.com and get directions from them. Simply enter from and to where you are traveling and they provide a detailed route.

Thats what we do. 417. The signs are pretty clear.

Mapquest is good and so is randmcnally.com .
Just enter the addresses and they will give you driving directions.

I agree. You won't get lost on 417 and a rental car seems to be the best bargain if you get some discounts. I had a four day rental for around $91 last time. Take 3 dollars in change just in case you take the wrong exit and have to pay an extra 50 cents. If not, you'l have to run the toll booth.....not...that....I've ever done that! :lookaroun

I recommend taking 417. It's about $2.50 in tolls (could be $2, I remember trying to add up the tolls, but can't remember the exact number), and it's much less busy than the Beeline-to-I4. It's simple to get to WDW on 417 - south from the airport, right turn onto 417, and look for the signs for your resort area.

*daydreams about driving to WDW*

Thank you guys for your help.

Yes, we are renting a Minivan from Dollar.

Last year we went, but we saw several signs for Tampa rather than any for Disney so we were a little worried about the directions and where exactly to get off. Also while on property, we were confused on an exit to get off on and we accidentaly headed to Animal Kingdom. I didn't know if that same thing would happen again this year so I came here to clear it up. We don't mind using the toll roads either.

We were staying on property at the Grand Floridian.

The directions using mapquest seem similar to the information given. Sometimes mapquest has given us incorrect information so our family can't trust it 100%.

Here is a link to the directions mapquest gave us. Again, they seem decent to what you guys have noted.

Again, I can't thank you guys enough.

Easy directions to WDW from MCO

Take the South exit (there's South Exit signs throughout the airport)

The south exit is about 4 miles of gently winding roadway which merges onto Boggy Creek Road. Just after the merge, you reach a traffic light where you turn right onto route 417, the Greeneway, headed "South"... actually West.

On the Greeneway, continue "South" about 10 miles... through a first and second set of $1 toll booths.

After the second toll booth, take the next exit... International Drive. You'll come up to a light... just keep going straight. After about 4 traffic lights you'll start seeing purple signs. You're at Disney!

You'll head past Epcot... Spaceship Earth on your left... and now keep to the left hand lane. This will put you on World Drive, headed North towards the Magic Kingdom.

When coming up to World Drive you must bear right or you will be going south... follow signs towards Magic Kingdom here.

Take World Drive through to the Main Gate for the Magic Kingdom.

Take the street to the far right, as soon as you exit the toll booth.

Take the road to the first light, to the right is the Fort Wilderness Lodge, you make a left here. The sign for the resorts is hard to see.

You will be going straight through TTC, and no you didn't mess up!!

After you pass the Polynesian there will be a "T" intersection and you will make a right.

This is Floridian Way and it will take you up to the resort....

Getting back to the airport.

Make a left on to Floridian Way.

This will merge and eventually become World Drive again.

Take this to the "Epcot and Downtown Disney" exit.

Take this highway (Epcot Center Drive) through and follow the same road straight. It will turn into World Center Drive, keep following and it will dead-end on to 417 Northbound.

Take 417 North to Exit 17 (Boggy Creek Road). There are two $1 tolls along the way.

Make a left off of the exit and follow the signs into the airport.

It depends
If u get ur car and exit through terminal a take 527 to I-4 or if ur car is near terminal B take the greenway. Also You could take boggy creek to Osceola Prkwy. All require tolls. Both 2 1.00 ones

I just followed the signs. The airport is incredibly well marked, even though you feel like you're just lost and will never get out of the airport, lol. I had directions, but it was way too busy and confusing to bother trying to follow them for me. So, I followed the signs. And I got there. :)

But South Exit to 417 is good. :)

Leaving Disney, it's also well marked, how to get to the airport, from anywhere, really. It doesn't matter how you leave, there are little pics of airplanes to follow.

Bring singles and quarters for tolls! I know some of the tolls people have posted have gone up since they last paid tolls.

Everyone seems to be helping you find the easiest way from MCO to WDW. We did it the hard way, 528 Beeline to route 4 to international Drive, very congested, not recommended.
