Best time to arrive for MVMCP?

The whole family is going to MVMCP this year on the 5th for the first time, and I wondered how Disney handles entry into the park. The way I understand it, they close the park for an hour and then reopen at 7pm.....so do you get booted out for a hour to linger outside the gates or do you have to go back to the TTC or parking lot? We are arriving about 3pm on Friday the 5th, should we go ahead and head out to the gates?

No, once you are in the park, you do not have to leave, they ask you to assemble in Tommrowland, while they have the rides open there and clear the rest of the park. You can also get your photo done there as well, sometimes they might open it a little early there, but we usually wait til we are somewhere else in the park that is less busy.

We usually get to the park at around 5pm and they let you in early. This way you can get on a few rides before the park closes while everyone else is exiting, then head over to Tommorowland. The rest of the park rides and such are closed until 7pm.

I'm not sure of the exact earliest time they let you in, but I think 5-5:30pm is what you should shoot for

My wife and I just got back from WDW and went to MVMCP this past Sunday. We got to the park at about 3:20pm (needed to enter with regular admission media) and watched the parade on Main Street. They start giving out wrist bands at 4:00pm in the castle hub area. From 4:00pm to 6:00pm we rode rides and everything was walk on (even Space Mountain 2 times no wait). At 6:00pm we were asked to wait in Tomorrowland until they could clear the rest of the park. Alot of people try to hide out and stay. While waiting we got our photo taken. At 6:30 they opened the rest of the park. Be sure to stop by the emporioum and ask for (you have to ask) the special edition MVMCP pin, you can purchase 2 per wrist band. Have fun, if I can help further, please ask. And it did snow on main street so find a spot their for the parade.

Thanks for the info.

I was looking to see how early I could get the family into the park without paying for an extra day on top of the party admission. While I have a Annual Pass, neither my wife or daughter do...

The party sounds like it will be the ultimate fun time. This will be our first trip in December and first MVMCP! (we go about three times a year, outside of December)
