Good Morning All,I've noticed whilst queuing for certain 3d shows, when the doors open some people head for what looks like their favourite seats in the middle, yet the CM is asking everyone to move right along to the end,yet certain people stay put.Is there a best position in the auditorium to get the best special effects.I thought no matter wher you sit,you will still get the 3d effect.

We prefer to be somewhere in the middle of the aisle, but would never stop halfway if seats had to be filled. So what we do is always hang back a bit once the doors open to allow the majority of people to pass through and by the time we get in, 9 times out of 10 the next available seats are in the middle.
I always struggle to find focus in a 3d show cos im as blind as a bat and find them mainly blurry unless I squint a bit. I find going near the back helps this a little.

the idea is that you get the same experience no matter where you sit in the auditorium and i've found this generally to be true.
however you still get those people who despite being told, sit slap bang in the middle of a row, and i always make sure to tread on such peoples toes.... you know, 'by accident'.

I'm never bothered where I sit, I've seen Philharmagic from the middle and from the first seat in a row and have not noticed a difference. Luckily as we go in September the theatres are never full anyway.

During one trip to Uni in 2008 while being seated for Shrek 4D there were a lot of people who wouldn't move to the end of the rows, the character in the theatre spent over 5 minutes (I'm not exaggerating!) shouting for everyone to move down! He gave up in the end!

I know we has sat in the middle of the theater and once ended up all the way on an end seat up front at "It's a bugs life" and I have to say that I ended up taking my glasses off when we had the end seat up front as trying to focus was giving me a headache. I think it depends more on how close to the screen we were though than the position right to left though as this was the closest we had ever been to the front.

If you sit to the extreme most right or left near the back at Philharmagic, you will hear sound effects that either can't be heard easily or at all by the rest of the theatre.

That said, it's still not that much better than sitting anywhere else.

We always tried to be in the center of the theatre (middle left-to-right and front-to-back), but on our last trip we were forced into the 2nd or 3rd row for Philharmagic because we walked in as the auditorium was almost full, and I definitely enjoyed that more. With the panoramic screens that open up for the show, it felt more immersive sitting up close than it did further back.

When we go into a show, 3D or otherwise, we like to be the first one in the door (or nearly first), so that we go all the way across the row and then are the first ones out when its over. Also we prefer sitting from the middle rows on back. We find that the 3D experience is the same wherever we sit.

For whatever reason, it's the general consensus of the average park goer that the exact middle (of the row you're sitting in or the entire theater) is the best place to be during a 3D show. I really don.t care as long as I can see.

This. I love to watch the people rush to enter the theatre and then when they sit down where they feel like the CM's tell them to move all the way down the isle. :ROFLOL:

I Agree with serveral others. With 3D the view seems to be same regardless of where you sit. I've found this true at Disney and Universal.

I generally go for the middle or back of the theatre seats. Watched Captain EO from the front row once and the 3D effect looked a bit off - maybe it was my eyesight or the glasses, but it didn't look as good as it did from the middle of the theatre.

Viewing a 3D film is not the same from each seat in the theater. Will you be able to experience 3D in general? Yes. Is it the same? No. Unfortunately, the theme park employees are lying to guests when they suggest that viewing is the "same" from everywhere in the theater.

Without getting too technical here (there are plenty of articles online for those interested in the science), 3D viewing does have a "sweet spot," and that tends to be in the center of the audience. This is due in part to how the illusion of 3D works; although objects appear to move in three dimensional space, the physical distance between the viewer and the the display plane (the movie screen) never change. In real life, of course, objects appear to move forward and backward because the distance between the object and the viewer changes. This limitation (no change in the distance between the viewer and the screen) is one of the criticisms for why home-based 3D will never "take off" and become generally accepted as the next widespread entertainment medium.

The Spider-Man attraction at Islands of Adventure is revolutionary in that the 3D projections change and adjust in perspective to account for the moving ride vehicles - which move side-to-side as they pass by the screens. It actually appears quite odd of you watch it from a stationary position (go on youtube and watch any behind the scenes footage of the attraction). Similarly, you can try walking past a doorway and looking into another room. Your perspective of vision into the room changes as you walk by it.

So, if there's a scene in MuppetVision or Philharmagic that looks straight down a hallway, it will only appear natural if you are seated in the center of the audience. Much of Tough to be a Bug is displayed exactly from this perspective. If you are on the left or right side of the audience, the perspective down the hallway will not appear natural, because you are being artificially forced to "see" from the center perspective.

This "flaw" in 3D technology is not as obvious in attractions like Star Tours, which are very fast in visual movement and don't provide as much time for the viewer to "process" how unnatural the viewing perspective is.

There really is a difference in Muppets and Mickey's P.. We have been in those two so many times I couldn't even come up with a number. We are strict rules people, so we have always gone all the way over as asked. In September, we were at the after hours very late and were able to pick our seats. We sat on the front center for the first time, and what a difference. After all these years, I never realized this. We've sat in many areas, just never on the front center. For the first time, we actually felt like items were going to hit us. It was so cool. We also got wet by the animetronic penquins in Muppets.
The same for Capt' EO, but in a different area. We had to sit in the next to the back row, in the middle. The 3d was the same, but had not even realized the floor moved sitting up further. It is more of a little shake. When you're at the back, you feel the floor move.
So, if possible, go to the late hours and give the front row a try. It may be just as good in the second or third rows. We're going to try for those next.
