Best route from MCO at night?

I usually take DME but I'm renting a car this trip. We're arriving late
(10:00pm). Which would be the best highway to take to WDW at this time of night? Also, does one of the routes have fewer tolls?

The route with the fewest tolls is to take the North exit from the airport to 528 west to I-4 west.

My preferred route at any time of day is the South exit from the airport to 417 south to 536 which turns into Epcot Center Drive once on WDW property.

Actually our late at night arrival was our best DME experience. We got our luggage, checked in at DME and got right on the bus. Within ten minutes we were on our way. It would have taken us longer to get a rental car.

I wholeheartedly agree and recommend the southern/417 route. Very easy, no I-4 and 528 is like driving Nascar.

I thought they cost the same last time i was in town.... both have 2 tolls to go through.

As PhotoDave alluded to, Route 528 and I-4 (which you must drive on when using the North Exit from MCO) tends to have a lot of speed-demons on it. The South Exit's Route 417 is a lot more typical highway traffic.

I cant speak of night driving from MCO - but during the early morning through 5pm - it is always interesting to see how people are driving. You have to be careful - A LOT of international drivers who pull over the side of the road trying to figure out their cars and also people speeding. I have to admit though, leaving MCO is FUN!!! I always enjoy driving the car from the airport. Be prepared for tolls and lots of fun.
