I am am looking for the quickest route with the least traffic from Hollywood studios to Universal for HHN in OCT at 5:30/6 pm on a Friday. Any thoughts?

Helicopter - Seriously, I-4 is a horror but you should be able to get there in less than an hour. A local might take Apopka-Vineland Rd-(Left, Northbound) out of Lake Buena Vista to Sand Lake Rd-(Right, Eastbound) to Turkey Lake Rd-(Left, Northbound) and right on Hollywood Way into Universal. This might be less traffic but not a great time saver. Change your travel times, hit the road one hour earlier might beat out some rush hour traffic or wait to go after 6:30pm but before 8pm when the Closing Park Crush starts.

We did it last fall from AKL. Easy peasy really.

Our I-4 exit is 65, and Universal's is 75. So you're on I-4 for like 10 miles. It goes by real quick. Sure there's traffic, but its only for a short trip.

I-4 on a Friday night at prime time... and a HHN to boot...

Prayers...

4 is the best way to go because you might have traffic issues going through Dr. Philips but 4 is still a nightmare. Hope there aren't any accidents and leave yourself plenty (and I do mean plenty) of time to make the trip. As said, it's not far on 4 from Disney but it's not a fun trip.

Is 1 1/2 hrs enough time?

It's hard to say... it's weird because it's only about 10 miles or so up a highway and it shouldn't take more than like 15-20 minutes but traffic here isn't normal.

I would think it'd be fine but if there's any delays (and 4 is having plenty with the Ultimate project and other construction) then you could be stuck for a long while. I don't mean to sound like a harbinger of death here, it's just that traffic here is the worst and often times there's no way around it. No surface streets to take and even when there are, they get clogged fast too because of everyone diverting off the highway. I mean, no one can explain why I-4 at Apopka/Vineland backs up. It just does.
