The Biergarten is great for a large (older) crowd. My family and I (9 adults) have an ADR for there and Mama Melroses at Hollywood Studios. Great way to secure VIP seating for fantasmic as well. :)

I'd stick with a table service over a buffet. Disney tends to slam bodies in real close in at tables and 10 people bopping up and down at a buffet is a pain. We have done Teppan Edo, Via Napoli and Ohana's and HoopDee with large groups. No bouncing around when seated. Hoop and Ohana gave us the most elbow room.

Years ago, I did a big group thing two different trips.

CRT were wonderful to us and it ran smoothly. Chefs de France, I think pushed tables together, and it seemed a burden. But it depends who the wait staff is. We had some very dry, no-nonsense waiters that trip to Chefs. Sci-Fi was very accommodating too.

And even though we are no longer dating, Le Cellier was great for a big group at dinner service. LOL!

I also did for the first and only time, Victoria and Albert's with a group of 7 and the service is impeccable. They were friendly, didn't rush us, and were meticulous.

Restaurant? Not QS? My suggestion is California Grill. Had Family Reunion dinner there with 16 of us. Biggest dinner bill I ever paid. Great meal, great service, great view, fireworks after dinner. Memorable.

Ohana or Teppan Edo, have done both with 12 people and it was great, we were able to enjoy our meals and be situated well enough for everyone to talk with each other.
