I believe there was a similar thread a month or so ago about pools. We are going to be staying at the Contemporary. Any info on their pools/slides would be appreciated. Also, what resorts have great pools/slides that we could visit? Thanks!!

I believe the Contemporary pool is great!!
2 pools....one very kid friendly with a fountains and slide...
and the other almost floating on the coast of Bay Lake....
Both the pools are a good size....
I don't think you'll be dissapointed with the pools....

If you were to pool hop....I don't think u would have to go that far....what about the Poly...
you could even make an afternoon about it....
the pools is great with the backdrop....and the slide is awsome...
I'd start with that.....then if you don't get caught....
definatlry hit Stormalong Bay at the Y&BC....
great pool with sandy bottom and great slide!

**U have to use caution....don't pool hop if the resort is crowded....or the pool is completely filled....thats when you have a better chance of getting caught....
*** Pool hop in early afternoons....thats when the pool are the least crowded....and few CMs expect people would at this time...since they would be on there way to the parks
*** Take the boat from EPCOT fo MGM....to SAB....and the monorail to POLY....this looks less suspicious....

Have a great trip and happy pool hopping!

I agree totally. I think the Y&B has the best pool and set up of any of the Disney Resorts. However, I think that any resort you choose on property is going to beat the average hotel pool anyway. I just think Disney does a fantastic job on making the entire resort (through their themeing) a very rememberal experience for their guests. So although I like the Y&B best too, I would be happy with any of the resort pools.

As for the visiting, I don't know how that works, I have never pool hopped...but here are some really great ones to check out.
Boardwalk, PO (either side) and WL. All have some good slides...but Boardwalks is like an Atlantic City/Rollercoaster set up. Another cool pool! And like disneydudette said, don't miss the one at the Poly either.

My kids are tiny (8 and under) so we love the new pool area at the poly, because it's a "zero entry" and they can splash in the really shallow part or wade out a bit further for the big ones. They also have a little "fountain" area, where the kids can just go and get squirted by the shooting water. It's so nice to just be able to sit and watch, without having to be right on top of them worrying about them slipping and going head under. I wouldn't be ideal if you had older kids who could swim and liked slides... give me about five years and I'll get back on some of those!

Following the Rules

Pool hopping is not allowed.

Every resort has a sign posted at the pool stating that the pool is for registered guests of that hotel only.

Discussions on this topic are always heated--do a search for "Pool hopping".

Long ago, it was tolerated, but with the popularity of the newer pools, especially Stormalong Bay at YC/BC, overcrowding is an issue.

Lifeguards do ask for room keys, and there is a number at the bottom that indicates your hotel.

People have been escorted out of the pools.

You have children. If they can read, they will know they are breaking the rules. If you are thrown out of the pool, they will be humiliated.

However, you are the parent, and you must decide what message you want to give your children.

You can always change your reservations.

If you have Ultimate Park Hoppers, water park admission is included.

I'm pretty-much a newbie on these boards and am making my first trip to Disney. I guess I should have started with: Is it allowed to go to other pools? We will just enjoy the two pools at the Contemporary since pool-hopping isn't allowed. Thanks!

For the record... I've never pool hopped!! That is why I only can attest to the Poly's new pool. I guess that we really don't make swimming a priority while we're at wdw, we spend maybe an hour or so a day at the pool. I do wish there was a hot tub at the Poly, though. It would be nice after those achingly long days on your feet! And it would be in keeping with the laid back polynesian theme.

We stayed at the Beach Club and getting into Stormalong Bay was like getting into Fort Knox. We were always asked for our room cards and getting a towel was like they were doing us a big favor. Whereas I think anyone can get into the Polynesian Pool, they never check, that is why since I always stay there I am seriously thinking of writing to Disney with my scan gate idea. Sorry, but they let all the DVC people hop anyway and in the summer it is horrendous in the Polynesian pool, I have been kicked by kids etc. Just wall to wall no matter when except if a storm is coming in like 5 minutes or less

I totally agree... the sand in a freshwater pool just adds to the effect... correct me if I'm wrong, but I think AKL also has sand in the pool?!? Anyway, the slide at Beach/Yatch is great! The whirlpool... TOO!!!

my kids (14 and 8) enjoyed the slide in the Poly, but said the water was too shallow . (about 3 ft I think) They enjoyed the pool at the WL because it is deeper, but they kept getting twisted and turned around in the slide. They even got yelled for going down on their belly, but I KNOW they started out on their butts because I was behind them.

we were only asked for our room key once about 4 years ago. Have never had any problems, but we usually go at the less crowded times, so maybe that would figure in.
