we are buying a hybrid camper this year, and want to have the best possible space at camp wilderness. We are also new to the RV world. Any advice?!

I would think knowing the name of the campground would be a good first step in selecting a good campsite. Camp Wilderness is at Carowinds, a good 500 miles away from Walt Disney World, so even the best campsite there is gonna make for a long commute to the Magic Kingdom.

Agreed. I do, however, feel a little guilty that we are all such jerks that the OP is unlikely to come back here again lol

"'They are so friendly', they said! 'They have all the answers,' they said!"
If OP can't take a little friendly ribbing she is not gonna last long in any forum. Maybe she can keep busy looking for campsites at camp wilderness fort lodge villas deluxe.

Besides, the worst possible campsite at Fort Wilderness is a better campsite than at many campgrounds I have been to. There are so many variables just asking about the best does not really help. Best what? Best site that is pet friendly? Perhaps they have pet allergies and need a non-pet loop. Best site closest to the pool? Maybe they prefer quiet over pool noise? Best shady site? Might prefer open, less shady area. Best loop close to the restaurant? Best loop closest to the boat dock? Best loop for similar sized campers instead of being right besides huge rigs? I would say there is no such thing as a best campsite without defining what your preferences are. On that note, our favorite is anything on the back side of loop 1500 if we check in on a Sunday with a full moon.

Hope I can help with personal experience...

My parents used to take us to fort wilderness quite a bit. I remember the 1100 loop was requested and it was good... a short walk to a park, the store, pool and tennis courts.

But that was for a family of 5 with possibly different priorities..

Welcome to the RV world! The perfect campsite is dependent upon your personal likes and dislikes. I would suggest that you also join the FortFiends.net, which is a RV & WDW focused group. There are many resources there involving Fort Wilderness Campground, as well as lot of RVing support. They have an app that you can download on your phone that is called sites at the fort that will give you a photo of each site in each loop and a description of that site and a rating of difficulty of backin, location of utilities on the site etc. allears.net under accommodations has a very nice slide show of the campground and facilities, a large map of the campground, and some tips on what you might want to pack in the RV.

I Like loop 200 site 206 it is a large campsite with sand behind the pad so if you have kids they will love the sand, mine did. It is close to the boat dock, bath house, and the settlement depot. You can also hear the electrical water pageant from the camp site. It is a preferred site cost less then the premium. Check out www.fortfiends.net
