Best places to view nighttime shows without using FP seating?

Honestly we never have a problem finding a good spot for illuminations. Probavly bc WS is so big there's always an area open. Wishes is different... I try to get a spot 30-45 min before the show. Right around partner statue or a little down Main Street are great spots.

My favorite at MK is the train station. You can see all the way down main street for the MSEP, and the fireworks view is quite good. If that isn't an option I go over in Liberty Square for MSEP. There is a spot with a bench and a long brick planter right in front of the place to get baked potatoes (forget it's name). A lot of people get right up to the rope but we sit on the planter edge, and then stand the grandkids on it when the parade comes. There's no one behind you there.
At Epcot where we go varies. There are several places that can be reserved for private parties around the lagoon, but seldom, especially on week days, are they all in use. I usually will find one of them as they all have nice views.

1-I could live off baked potatoes where is this place?

2-I actually like going over to the Contemporary Hotel get a beverage walk out to the observation deck and watch the fireworks from there (all the fireworks and music no huge crowds). Then just hop on the monorail to the TaTPTC and head out.

I eat one of those potatoes every time I go to MK!

I would recommend the wishes dessert buffet until they raise their price in July, but that breaks your requirement of no ADRS or fps.

How about the beach at the poly? A little away but calm and easy to get away after.

For the best viewing of nighttime shows without using a Fastpass or paying for a dessert party here is my advice:

If you care about castle projections and things of this nature, the best advice is to show up really early and camp your spot in from of the castle. That way your kids can stand or sit and see everything and you wont annoy several thousand people behind you by rudely block their view (they are guests too-please be mindful).

If you do not care about castle projections and things of that nature then you can literally be outside anywhere in the park (or even outside the park) and see the fireworks as they are up in the sky. My favorite spots would be in Tomorrowland while riding the Astro Orbiter or the open area outside of space mountain, or in Fantsayland in the open areas between the castle and 7DMT or head over to the Grand Floridian and sit on the patio outside of Gasperilla's and watch the fireworks over the water.

If there is a second showing (like for Celebrate, Fantasmic, or MSEP) and the kids can stay up late enough for the second showing, wait for the second showing. During our visit, the first showing of MSEP had people standing 6 or 7 people deep along the parade route. But by the second showing, there was PLENTY of room to stretch out without any interference of other guests (especially over in the FrontierLand section).

That also required the parents being able to stay up that late! ;)

The bridge in Frontierland that overlooks the Splash Mountain drop is a good place to see Mk fireworks. Frontierland in general is a pretty good place to catch MSEP also. If you don't care too much about the parade or projection show go to the beach at Poly, it's a great view for fireworks.

I'll second Fantasyland as the place to be. Watch them from in front of the Beast's Castle... you'll have no crowds blocking your view, very few people to contest with, the fireworks going off all around you, not just in front, and you still get to see a castle framed by them, and the kids will find it super magical.

The only problem is if you want to see the projection show too on the same night you would have to choose a spot near the Liberty Square bridge then as soon as it finishes head round to Fantasyland during the break between shows, and having little kids might make that more difficult.

Wear a hat, Hot embers have been known to land on guests in the area around Gaston's happened to someone in my party in december no big deal except for dousing it with water from our bottles
