I'm going to try crossroads

Crossroads is a long walk from DTD, but is easily doable. Just walk down the road between the Hilton and Wyndham where the hotels are (Hotel Plaza Blvd.) and keep walking till the end of the road. You will have to cross a very busy highway at the entrance. If your plan is stocking up with snacks and supplies, I might suggest bringing a backpack or something to make carrying the supplies back with you easier. I circled the DTD bus stop and Crossroads in this pic. There are nice, wide sidewalks the whole way, but again, it is a long walk.

Oh, I believe I read you are staying at AKL. You can get some basic snack items and supplies there in the onsite store, including milk, cereal, bread, snacks etc...but you will pay Disney prices. Depending on how much you value your time, it might be worth it, as the bus to DTD, walk to Crossroads, shopping then return is gonna easily be two to three hours or more.

Thanks for doing that, that was really good. Will take a walk out one of the times at DTD. Is it okay to cross the freeway? Is there a crossing point?

That is not a freeway at the entrance, but a very busy, multi-lane road. There is a crosswalk and stop lights, but be careful as some drivers have been known to ummm, not stop. Pedestrians are sometimes walking targets for Florida drivers!

Honestly! Its a long walk your best bet would be to get a cab from DTD have them drive you over and then call a cab company to return you to your resort or to DTD where you can take the resort bus.

I have a feeling the shop at crossroads will have what looking for and be bir cheaper than disney shops.
