any reccomended place we can take a break and find shade?

This is important to consider because someone in our party has medical issues if their in the sun for too long!

Obiously we'll be using sunscreen but i'm mostly looking for a nice place to hang out and people watch maybe grab a quick snack kind of thing

Were going in August! I know it's a bad time to go for shade and low humidity, and mostly sunlight but Hydration will help a lot!

I guess it depends upon what park you are visiting. Last week, I was visiting WDW, and in EPCOT, I enjoyed the Land Pavilion, because it's cool and spacious inside. Sunshine Seasons is a nice food court, and the Garden Grill is a pleasant table service restaurant. Maybe The Land might be one option to consider. :)

I guess a good way to put it is are their a lot of benches/ sitting area's in the shade?
Just somewhere we can sit down and regain our energy?

Don't get me wrong were open to outside dining! We'll check those places out!
This seems like a silly question to ask because were going in August when it's hotter than hot and theres really no way to get away from that awful humidity!

There's someone in our party who won't be able to keep up with 3 teengers and needs a nice place to hang out and people watch!

Thanks!

Places to find shade (and better yet, air-conditioning):

- Indoor counter service locations (go in, ask for a free iced water, and have a seat -- although courteously defer to anyone who has a tray full of food and can't find another open table)
- Table service restaurants (typically you'll find a waiting area with seating in the lobby, as well as a stand with cups and free iced water somewhere near the reception podium, available to anyone, regardless of whether you're dining there)
- Gift shops
- Most attraction/M&G lines: few of the available attractions have "open air" waiting areas or seating: you'll typically be indoors, or under an awning, and in air conditioned comfort. If your friend brings an umbrella or something else to use while walking from place to place, he/she won't have much trouble avoiding the sun.
- Also, you'll find strategically-placed seating near the exits to almost every attraction, especially those that older folks often skip. When we went with my 70+-year-old Dad, he had no trouble finding a place to rest his legs in the shade and wait for the rest of us, whenever he chose to sit something out.

Okay awesome thanks for your suggestions!

I heard a rumor their pretty tough about sitting down in a dining area without food! They'll kick you out even if your waiting for someone in your party to get the food! I also heard there as CM'S standing there kicking people out.

When it's busy, yes, this is true. But, if someone bought food and needs to sit down and eat, and someone is just sitting at a table, it's a fair policy.

In August, your best bet is to seek indoor locations. There are benches, but they're not all in the shade, and even then, there's not much of a reprieve from the August Florida sun/heat. I certainly wouldn't advise sitting somewhere outdoors to regain one's energy in August. In January - sure.

Yeah, I understand their reasoning it just won't help us out very much!

Great, We'll be sure to bring tons of water and try to find places inside. I assume everything is AC

Hopefully the sun and heat won't exaust us so much we won't be able to catch fireworks at night! That's why we'll try to take pool breaks!

Absolutely! Whenever it's hot, the best policy is to tour early in the morning and late at night, and spend your afternoons by the pool or napping in your air-conditioned hotel room! We avoid the parks between noon and 4pm, we never stay later than 9:30pm (we have small children who need to get to bed on time, to be up for rope drops in the morning), and we still get to see and do everything we want. With an older party, taking afternoon naps so you can be night owls at the park with evening EMH might work even better, and keep you out of the heat.

What she said! I'll ad upstairs in CHH nice and cool never too busy and good A/C. Hall of Presidents another nice cool place to sit and relax, The American, French and China all have movies (nice and cool), Innovntions, I never have trouble finding a nice spot to sit in EPCOT. In DHS one man's dream and the Great Movie Ride are a nice break, ABC is nicely airconditioned, AK will be your hardest park Dinosaur, Restaurantsaurous and ITTBAB are all nice and cool. Good luck!

Same situation here - a few that we found:

In MK - where Liberty Square meets the hub - just behind the Christmas Shop there is a small little area with a few benches, good shade and a water fountain. Also in Frontier Land near the drop for Splash Mountain there is a 2 tiered sitting area with benches in the shade near an ice cream stand.

Under a tree...

Nah, just kidding, well not really, that does provide shade, but you know what I mean.

In MK I'd say any of the indoor counter service places, of which there are many, just depends what type of food you are looking to get. Not only are these places shaded, they are air conditioned.

EPCOT the best bet is either The Land or the aquarium pavilions in the front part (just cause you'll also be entertained) and in the back part all the shops within the countries are your best bet.

Not as sure about Hollywood Studios, but there's a counter service around the back lot tour that's outside but completely covered so it's all shaded.

And AK I have no idea, I rarely go there, but there are a lot of trees.

As you can tell, I am a big fan of air conditioning. When it's 100 degrees out shade doesn't cut it for me, bring me in the AC and let me either eat food or window shop in a gift shop.

I know there are a bunch of little hidden sit down areas around Disney which is the cool part about it!

You never know what you'll find :D
especially around the countries!

I love finding small hidden places to sit and rest. I've had a heat stroke twice already, so I know how it feels to have to sit down and rest, hydrate, and get out of the sun.

In Hollywood, there are some benches to sit and rest along the pathway between Little Mermaid and Toy Story. There's also a nice place to sit under shade to the right of the Star Tours gift shop, but that might be a smoking area... I don't remember. If you're on the other side of the park, you can find some nice shaded benches around the exit of Tower of Terror behind the coffee stand.

In Magic Kingdom, Liberty Square is a nice place to rest. There are lots of tables with umbrellas as well as a snack stand right in the middle. The Diamond Horseshoe restaurant building also has some benches around it.

Epcot.. oh man, get ready to walk a lot through the sun.. lol. There's one shaded bench area in front of Mission: Space, but that's a smoking pit. Maybe you can get lucky and there won't be anyone smoking there. On the other side of Future World, I guess The Land would be the best place to sit down like others have said. If you manage to make it across the World Showcase, Japan has a wonderful little garden area with umbrella tables. China also has some nice shaded bench areas right next to a quick-service open air sit down place.

In Animal Kingdom, I found this one table area in Africa under a wooden trellis-like structure.. It was great 'cuz it started to rain and we hid under that. I think the place is called Tamu Tamu Refreshments? If you're walking from Asia, it's on your right side between the new Harambe Marketplace and the bridge that goes to Discovery Island. On the other side in Dinoland, you can find lots of tables under a shaded porch over at Dino-Bite Snacks. I usually go there to get some ice cream and cool off.

So, yeah! Those are my favorite places to cool off and rest. I'm sure there are lots more you can find :)
