Walk or take the boat to Epcot and eat in World Showcase.

The sitdown options at DHS are incredibly subpar.

Oh i know, but its nice just to have some dinner at DHS before enjoying the evening atmosphere and heading to Fantasmic!

The Brown Derby is great for Lunch. But personally I would take the boat to the boardwalk and eat there. Hollywood Studios definitely isn't known for it's eateries.

If you've never eaten at Sci-Fi, you should give it a try. Maybe for lunch instead of dinner, if you want to save $$. As crispy said above, it's not fine dining, but the atmosphere is fun and I think everyone should experience it at least once.

It's VERY worthwhile to hit the Brown Derby. The quality of their offerings has been steller for well over a year now (they quickly recovered from a DISASTEROUS "lets reduce costs" episode around 2008-2009 - new head chef, and the man is SERIOUS).

OR -

You can always grab the boat & have dinner at Shula's in the Dolphin. Best Steak at WDW :).[/QUOTE

Ive seen their menu!!!! Some SERIOUS steaks :slurp:

Mama Melrose is quite a pleasant place, food is fine and atmosphere good. But for something a bit more special I'd head to the Boardwalk or Epcot, Yachtsman is good.

Why all the hatin? I use to like Backlot express. The turkey and cheese sandwich is pretty decent. I have also heard starring rolls is a great place to get a sandwich. Pizza planet has pizzas as good as any you'd get in the frozen food section of your favorite neighborhood grocer <sarcasm>. Actually I liked it for junk pizza but it was free dining so I'd throw just about anything free down my gullet!

I'm going in less than 2 weeks and was looking over the menu's at the Studios and really don't know what I'm going to end up eating since they changed all the menus. The Commissary looks horrible, Backlot express changed for the worse and I'm probably the only person who doesn't care for Angus burgers which are served in the park. I'll probably end up at the Studios Catering Co getting a chicken caesar wrap.

Sci-Fi for lunch. I like the Beef and Blue salad. Burgers are typical for Disney. The atmosphere is really neat.

The ABC Comissary is, in fact, Horrible. Stay away.

Backlot is okay. I don't think I've ever eaten at Studio Catering Co. I'm like most of the others here--if I'm at DHS and want to eat, I take a hike to the Epcot Resorts, or World Showcase.

I agree, the ABC Commissary is terrible. We were just there a few weeks ago. We had dinner at Hollywood and Vine, which is a buffet, and the food was good and had a wide selection. Not on par, in my opinion, with the Crystal Palace, but I would go back.

We aren't fans of any eating places at DHS. If I HAD to pick something I would pick Sci Fi for LUNCH, we hated the dinner menu. In general on our DHS days we just snack around the park. If we plan a meal we'll boat over to Cape May.
