Where would you eat for my granddaughters 5 th birthday? We will be there on her actual birthday. We have food allergies in our group so I thought we would do cupcakes instead of cake. Any suggestions appreciated.

Depends on what she would like and what the allergies are. Also, both cake and cupcakes can have allergens in them but you can special order allergy free ones.

Maybe a princess character meal? Cinderella's Royal Table at MK or Akershus at Epcot? I know that if I was still 5, that's what I would want... Ok, I'll admit it, I did go to CRT last year for my 34th birthday!!!:inlove:

with food allergies see if you can talk to the restaurant ahead of time and they can make it special for you. my son have food allergies and the chef even came to our table to talk with us. we should have called ahead alot of stuff was pre made like the cupcakes and he couldn't eat any of them. And im with the others do a princess meal that would be alot of fun for her or any character meal if she likes something better.

If she likes the princesses, then I agree that CRT or Akershus would be great.

As for her allergies, have them noted on the reservation and be sure to tell your server as well. You can't contact the restaurant directly. But you can email your dietary concerns. Here is a link to the Disney info on special dietary needs:
https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/guest-services/special-dietary-requests/

The email address for special diets is in there.

As for an allergen free cake or cupcakes, depending on her needs, you might want to special order a custom cake for her. There's a cake thread somewhere on this forum.

Depends on her preferences, which park you plan on being in, and your price range. If she loves the princesses than either Akershus or CRT. If she prefers the Fab 5, Chef Mickey's. If she likes Pooh and friends, Crystal Palace. Garden Grill has a great character meal as well.

Where to have it also depends on the size of your party and your budget. Any character meal, particularly at the Royal Table is incredibly expensive. If you have 5 or more people you're looking at over $300 easily. We had a birthday breakfast for 5 at the Royal Table on the Dining Plan (the one you pay for, not the free one), so while we paid it in the plan, we didn't have to pay the bill at the time.

As for which venue...start with what's she most into. Is it Mickey, the princesses etc...Does it need to be a character meal? Which park are you planning to visit that day. One of the members of our group has allergies to both seafood and mushrooms. We just note it when we make our dining reservations and because the mushroom allergy is a bit different they usually give him both the allergy specific menu and then also have the chef come out to talk to him. At the 1900 Park Fare buffet they had someone come out and actually walk him around the buffet. It's amazing how many things they put mushrooms in but it's not noted as part of the description...sauces, gravies etc... in particular. We've just found them to be fantastic at keeping him safe.

What a fun and memorable experience for her! Hope it's fun.

I'd say check out Crystal Palace, CRT, Be Our Guest, Akershus, Chef Mickeys, Mickeys Backyard BBQ. Look at the tea party too at Grand Floridian.

Nobody specifically mentioned it, but I just read about Cinderella’s Happily Ever After Dinner at 1900 Park Fare for dinner. It sounds really cool, but I've never tried it.

I'm taking my niece there (at the end of November) for her 5th birthday. We both have dietary restrictions so I emailed Disney and was told that it was not a problem. I've never been there for dinner, but I took my son there for breakfast a few years ago and the character interaction was the best.
