Best Pizza at Disney World

Actually, now that I think about it, the pizza at CSR counter service is pretty good, for what it is.

And the flatbreads at SSR are stupendous! They remind me of tarte flambe from Alsace. (Just glad they don't call it pizza!)

To clarify, not ALL pizza in Philadelphia is called tomato pie. There is such a thing as tomato pie, it is pizza without cheese and it can be in the shape of a triangle or a square (not sicilian though). AND, there is great pizza outside of New York and Chicago. Philadelphia's pizza is great.

Ha! You are quite right. It is in the NJ suburbs of Phil where they are all called tomato pies.

And, not to minimize the great city of Phil., when I say where "NY-style" pizza is served, I meant to include most of NJ, most of CT, and the Phil. Greater Metro area. You might call it the Greater NY-Style Pizza Area

The "regular" is really "Napolitan".
That falls into the "duh" category, but who actually says that when they order a pizza? For that matter, who says the word "pie" after "pizza"?

I agree with you that certain types of gourmet "pizzas" are tasty, but they're not genuine. I've had some good food at Wolfgang Puck Express in DTD, but it's not the real deal.

Frankly, if the guy behind the counter doesn't have brown hair, rolled tee shirt sleeves, and a reference to Brooklyn or Goodfellas hanging somewhere on the wall, I'm suspicious of the pizza.

By the way, you forgot Long Island in your description of the NY metro area. Most Long Islanders have roots in NYC or very close to it.

I think the word gourmet pizza=double the price. I get amazed at the prices they charge for a glorified pizza with a few gourmet toppings.

You are absolutely right. I did mention it in a previous post though:

...So from my standpoint, a bit south of Ocean City, NJ, a bit west of the Philadelphia area (where ironically it's not called pizza at all, but "tomato pie"), a bit north of Rockland and Westchester counties, and a bit east of the middle of Connecticut (not counting Long Island - pizza there is ok), what they call "pizza" morphs into something entirely different!...

GoofyMike was quick to point out that only a certain kind of pie is "tomato pie" in Philly. However, in the NJ suburbs of Philly, many places call all kinds of pizza tomato pie (whether it has cheese or not!).
