Best park or children

Hello

I am new here so forgive me if this is the wrong place to ask this question. My husband and our 2 boys age 6 and 2 are going to disney world for the first time this June for a week. My question is which one of the parks would they be able to do the most in? And are there any rides that my 2 year old could sit in my lap in? Thanks for any help. I really want this to be a great vacation.

The Magic Kingdom has the most rides for a 2 year old. Yes, you can hold your child in your lap on a lot of rides like IASWA, PofC, HM, JC just to name a few. Have a great trip.

You are going to be able to the most in the Magic Kingdom. For a 7 day stay I would still go to the other parks. I would suggest dividing your time up as follows -

AK - Half day or Full Day
Studios - 1-2 days
Epcot - 1 to 1 1/2 days
MK - 3 days

Depending on how you decide the above any extra time can be added to MK or go to Downtown Disney to shop.

Welcome to the boards! You'll get a lot of good information here.

I am assuming that you meant the best park FOR children, not OR children, although some would debate going to the best park OR having children.

Anyway, I don't think you could go wrong with the MK. It's made for kids and us big kids too. As in all the parks, there are height restrictions on some rides, but there are more shows and things for the little ones to do in the MK than the other parks, IMHO.

Have fun planning your trip and reading these boards.

My order of parks for the kids would probably be

1. Magic Kingdom: There's just so much magic and fascination for the kids at this park. By far, this park has more for the kids than anybody else. You have tons of dark rides that they can ride and enjoy such as Peter Pan, Winnie the Poo, It's a Small World, Buzz; but you also have tons of character meet and greets and just magical fun for the whole family here. There's enough thrills to make a slightly older kid happy and enough tame stuff for the younger children and as an adult you'll love them all.

2. Disney's Animal Kingdom: Kids love Animals and they are everywhere. The Safari is a great ride, Rafiki's Planet Watch has a petting zoo, there's some great shows such as the Festival of the Lion King and the upcoming Nemo show, then there's the dinosaur themed land. There's also some bumpy and thrilling rides for the older children in Expedition Everest, Dinosaur, and the River Rapids. Did I mention there's animals everywhere? If your kids have any fascination with animals they'll have a field day in this park.

3. Disney's MGM Studios: This park is a little light on the rides for children as I wouldn't recommend Tower of Terror or Rockin' Roller Coaster for them, but there are tons of characters all over the park and some fun shows. The animation studios may still be fun for the children (I don't know as I haven't been since they took the actual animators out of the park) and they'll love fantasmic to end the night.

4. Epcot: In my opinion this park is one of the better parks, but I'm an adult, to children I would imagine this park might be a little boring especially to small children. There are very few character meet and greets throughout this park and half of the park (The World Showcase) may just be boring to the kids as it's mainly just theming, shops, and restaurants with a few small shows and circle vision theatres thrown in. However Future World isn't too bad for kids. If they're old enough, there's the "thrill rides" of Test Track and Mission Space, there's also dinosaurs a plenty in Universe of Energy; a pavilion mainly for the kids in The imagination pavilion with the journey into imagination ride with figment and the honey I shrunk the audience 3d show, The land has Soarin which is lots of fun, and the kids will love Turtle talk with crush and the new nemo ride coming to The Living Seas (not to mention lots of fish) although this isn't open yet.

So all in all, imo the best park for kids (and I'm assuming around 2-8 years of age) is Magic Kingdom by a long shot followed by Animal Kingdom, and then a close tie for third with MGM and Epcot with MGM getting a slight nudge.

Also be aware that if I were ordering these parks for adults that the orders would change. Anyhow, these are just my opinions though so take them as that. I don't even have kids so what do I know.

Just one more thing, remember to have a magical day.

Hi Hop2Mom, I'm new here also but have been going to disney world for years. We take our kids every year for about 2 weeks. It's an amazing adventure & the kids are in awe every year. Wanted to give you a tip that we have found works best, especially with small children & in the heat. We NEVER stay at a park for the entire day. It wipes you completely. Disney world is like they say, MAGICAL but you don't want to go home feeling you haven't relaxed at all. We usually make a schedule of parks we're going to see before we arrive. We go to a park in the morning & return to the hotel around 12-1p. We have lunch, swim in the pool, take naps & head to another park in the evening around 5ish. The kids are rested & their legs aren't tired, we're all refreshed & ready to go again. It allows you to enjoy the relaxation part of vacation too. If you can, schedule one day in the middle of the trip to do just that, relax. Spend time at the pool, explore shopping, ride the monorail, lunch by the pool etc.. If you make reservations for dinner at a resort be sure it's for when you first arrive there (if you take my advice above & take a break in the afternoon for the kids to rest). This way you can eat & not have to stop seeing attractions or going on rides to run to a reservation. I have tons of ideas we've come up with over the years that make our trips there so enjoyable! Let me know if you want to hear more!! Have an amazing time & I would definitely say Magic Kingdom is going to be your BEST park for the kids. It's made for kids of ALL AGES! :)

Enjoy your trip & have a magical time!
