This is our first trip to WDW...children are 5&7...we debated between WL, AKL and Poly but decided to spend the extra and stay at the Poly.. (my husband mostly wants to be on the water and ease of transportation and I wanted Poly because the perception is that it is the "best" and I have a one and done mentality when it comes to WDW)..That being said, we are booked 6 nights standard view. Which longhouse would you suggest?

Why are you posting that in a Disneyland forum? Disneyland is NOT in Florida.

I will still answer this question even though it's in the wrong forum...the best longhouse is whichever one is closest to Tambu Lounge and Trader Sam's. Make for a much shorter stagger (or crawl) back to the room.

This is the right answer -- if you have a standard room, you basically want either Tonga, Rarotonga, or Niue which are all immediately adjacent to the Great Ceremonial House which is where all the restaurants, bars, and shops are. (Tonga will be closest to Trader Sam's).

Tonga it is then! Now is someone can just loan me enough to cover $800/night for a week's stay.

But seriously, who the you know what can afford to stay here? I see these Florida bloggers spending a night or two there...the cheapest rooms are like $500/night (and that's the second week in Jan).

I'll just stay at All Stars where 5 nights is roughly the same as 1 night at the poly.

Gonna have to increase my ask then...anyone got $1265 (OMG) per night they can spare? I'll trade you some tiki mugs from Traders Sam's Anaheim.
When I rented my first house in 1996, my rent was $1050 per month for 2000 sqft and it was only half hour from Disneyland.

That was our monthly rent for an apartment in Redondo Beach, literally 50 yards from the beach around the same time. Smaller than 2000 sq ft but yeah, on the beach.

If you can get/afford a DVC room, they're closest to the TTC where you can quickly walk to either the MK ferry or the express MK monorail or Epcot direct monorail.
