Steve, Gilmour, Liefson (bit of a trend)

I should have added Mat Bellamy from Muse, he gets the guitar god concept.
Slash I like was fortunate enough to be at Donington (paradise city vid) and seen him since as a gun slinger guitarist great but not a patch technically on those above.

Most excellent... Looks like I have to add some Hogarth era Marillion to my wish list (only have Afraid of Sunlight).

His facial expressions while playing remind me of Andy Latimer.

As far as Lifeson, La Villa Strangiato is mandatory listening for those who want to hear good guitar...

That's an impressive list of guitarists, but I'm going to have to add Randy Holbrook. ...partly because he is really good and partly because if I'm listening to him live, it must mean that I am at Disney.

The best guitarist that I've ever heard on Disney property was Steve Howe (Yes / House of Blues). After the show a fan joked about the 18-wheeler at the stage door was just for Steve's guitars...

I am in no position to judge, but always hear guitarists say Eric Clapton is the best.

I voted for Eddie Van Halen because I liked him (and the band's songs) while I grew up. Still do.
