Best Good Neighbor hotel?

While I haven't completely ruled out staying at one of the Disney owned hotels I was wondering what the best Good Neighbor hotels within walking distance of the parks are. They are sooooo much cheaper than the Disney hotels and I'm trying to weigh out my options. Thanks in advance! :wave:

The Fairfield Inn is nice. It's about two blocks north of the pedestrian entrance to Disneyland. From the lobby to Disneyland's or DCA's main entrance turnstiles it's a 10 minute walk, including a minute or two waiting for the crosswalk light on Harbor to turn green.

I just got back from staying at the Howard Johnson and it was nice and ranged between a 8 min to 10 min walk from my room to the gate. I have also stayed at the Stovall's Inn (Best Western) that was about a 10 min walk too. I would stay at either one of them again.

We're staying at the Fairfield in August. Friends of ours highly recommended it and for the price and proximity... can't be beat!

I've stayed at the Quality Inn Anaheim Resort (on Manchester), across from the Howard Johnson. I personally have found it to be nice and clean. Though the rooms are on the small side. It's a little more out of the way, but still only about a ten minute walk. Anaheim also has a resort bus service you may want to look into if you don't find what you are looking for that is walkable. It looks pretty convenient.

I'm going for 3 days 4 nights the begining of August. Onsite looks too expensive. I have little ones that need a nap durring the day so I'm looking for the closest to get in and out quick. Also, we are not getting tickets for the day we get there so I'm looking for a hotel with a great pool and then downtown disney at night. Any suggestions? Short Walk, Nice Pool, Free Breakfast would top the cake.

I second this! Hojos has a great water play area for the kids, it's very family friendly, great staff and very nice grounds as opposed to the others which are just parking lots and a hotel building.

How far of a walk is the HOJO?

Not too far about 10 mins to the DLR entrance and about 15ish to the DL or DCA gates. Depends on how fast you walk. It sits on the corner of Harbor Blvd. and West Manchester Ave.

We've always stayed at Hojo's and enjoyed it every time. Short walk to the park and plenty of food options on the way back to the hotel.

How far of a walk is the HOJO?

It's across the street from the Fairfield.

I find it useful for Disneyland newbies to check out Google Maps or Yahoo Maps in satellite view and see all these places from the air. It's amazing how close it all is. While there are closer motels along Harbor, the Fairfield or HoJo is closer to the Disneyland main entrance than the Contemporary is to the Magic Kingdom main entrance.

Once again, I'll plug Wikimapia. It uses the Google Maps feed, but lets people label places. Clicking on a place (especially a hotel) will usually bring up a link to the hotel's website.
