Those are new books and they are fun to look at. There is a "big" Imagineers book with Mickey on the cover that I enjoyed a lot.

I'm at work so I can't remember my library of 50+ books!

But good ones are:

Since the World Began

Making of Disney's Animal Kingdom Park

Designing Disney

Disney: The First 100 Years

Imagineering

A good new one is The Walt Disney World Trivia Book: Secrets, History & Fun Facts Behind the Magic

I'll have to check when I get home to see what other good ones I have that I can't think of right now.

If you're asking about books about the parks for trip planning, my favorite is Walt Disney World for Couples by Rick and Gayle Perlmutter. My boyfriend gave it to me before our first trip together and it gives tips on the most romantic aspects of the parks. I think it's more highlighed and worn than any of my books for school...

If you're asking about books on Disney. like the history, I have to also mention Since the World Began which I bought in the parks in 1996 I believe. It's got great information and some great old pictures of the parks.

That is a very good book for people that are going for the first time.

I have about 10 or so Disney books at home. Here are some links to the ones I have that I really like. There are others, but I am not at home and don't remember all of their names:

The ones I listed if you click on them you can purchase at Amazon from the links. In the parks it would cost too much though you can probably find them there.

Disney Treasures: I realize that all of the memorabilia and collectibles in the book are reproductions but I still hold each piece as if it were the most precious gem in the world. The letters and postcards from Walt are my absolute favorite. :dazzle:

Remembering Walt: I love this book because it really gave me some insight from all of those around him about the person that Walt Disney was. A few of the quotes brought tears to my eyes.
In case you didn't notice, Walt himself happens to be my favorite element in this whole Disney craze!

Disney The First 100 Years: A LOT of info, condensed into one book.

"Disneyland : The Inside Story" by Randy Bright

This is a very-out-of-print (1987) coffee table book on the History of Disneyland, in both text and HUGE (some full and double page) photos of the park in it's first few decades.

From Walt's financial woes before the park ever opened to the development of Splash Mountain (the scale model is beautifully photographed for the last page), it's all here. This is truly an amazing book, I have spent countless hours since with it I recieved the book as a child for a present. There is enough text to make it a true history, but it's really the photo plates that are absolutely amazing - not to mention the maps, attraction designs, etc. I really can't express how cool this book is - especially to anyone who has any interest at all in ride/park development, or "behind the scenes" of attractions.

It's about 270pgs - but with the very heavy paper stock it is quite thick and large. Each page feels like a suitable-for-framing piece. It's also a darn well made book - I can't tell you how many very long (multi-day) car rides that this book accompanied me on and somehow I've managed to keep every page pristine with only very minor shelf-wear on the jacket.

Now the bad news - as I said, it's very out of print, and although I haven't seen any copies on eBay lately the last I looked at Amazon's used selection the cheapest copy was over $100 - and went up to almost $500 for some sellers with good copies.

Although I'd feel bad if someone spent money they shouldn't on it (like money you are saving for WDW!), if you've never seen this book it's a must for every Disney Park fan (especially those of Disneyland, of course, since that is the main focus). Check your local library - if they don't have it, ask them to ILL (Inter-Library Loan) one for you to check out.

Honestly, this book is one of those things I'd stop to grab if my house was burning down. I have enjoyed it for many years, but have only recently become aware of it's relative rarity. Does anyone know any facts about it? I believe it was purchased at WDW for me, and I have been led to believe been the only place it was ever sold - there is no price nor a few other normal publishing details on the jacket.

Can't reccomend it highly enough!

Although I'm somewhat partial to the Walt Disney World trivia book (heheheh) ;), a great old book about the planning of Walt Disney World is called Florida's Disney World: Promises and Problems, by Leonard E. Zehnder. It was published in 1975 and is a hardcover book. It's very hard to find (and I don't feel like paying the $300 some people are asking for it).

If anybody knows where I can find one, please let me know! Thanks!!

Vinyl leaves, that book changed my entire perspective on the World-both Disney and regular. I have a ton of books but I prefer the books with the dirt. It might seem negative but those are the most interesting.
