Oh come on Captain...thats just crazy. GO out to the barefoot bar and enjoy a drink.

No way.

A.They don't make the Island Sunset at the Barefoot Bar.
B.I LOVE the Tambu Lounge. I love just sitting by the waterfall in the GCH. It was so relaxing and peaceful.

That's gone now.:(

They won't make it at the Barefoot bar if you ask them? I like the Tambu Lounge but sometimes its too crowded and takes forever to get a drink. I also miss when Kaleo would play up there.

Nope - I've asked several times, and they don't do it. I miss Kaleo too. He was fantastic for the atmosphere.

I find Tambu to be very crowded right before Ohana opens. But the wait staff is very good there.

Here's to hoping they wise up and get rid of the air freshener.

Just drink more sunsets and you won't notice the air freshener :ROFLOL:

I'm thinking WL is first in line, followed by the contemporary and poly- which I have never stayed at! I HAVE been to Ohana's which was EXCELLENT. :)

We've stayed at the Beach Club, Grand Floridian, Contemporary, and Bay Lake Towers. My favorite is the Contemporary. I love being on the monorail loop and so close to the MK and EPCOT. The style of the rooms are also really modern and elegant.

I was getting a little nervous reading everyone's responses on the first page...I was wondering where my fellow GF fans are!!! Sorry guys, GF takes all. Location, ambience, restaurants, pool is good, and there is just something that I get out of staying there that I don't get t any other resort.

Everyone has a resort they love and good thing we don’t all love the same one. While I think the GF has a lot to offer I would have to disagree with its location being the best. In fact I would rate it out of the monorail resorts to be in the worst location for transportation. It might be one stop away from the MK but many times that I have been there the monorail has been full or close to full by the time it gets to the GF. Same can be said for the busses. It’s the last stop coming back from the MK on the monorail and to get to the Epcot monorail you need to go to the MK, than the Contemporary, then get off at the TTC to switch monorails. Also most of the standard rooms are smaller than both the Polynesian and the Contemporary so while I think it is a great deluxe resort I don’t really see how people make statements that it is the best.

On the other hand I don’t make statements that a resort I might think is the best has to be the best for everyone else. I think the Polynesian is better in every category but many times I suggest that other resorts would be better for people who ask me where to stay.

I pick mine based on what type of trip we're taking. Love WL when we're looking for a relaxed trip. love the setting/theme and pool. I love the poly for the room size, view sitting at the pool, and it's just a fun atmosphere. When staying club level for me GF stands shoulders above the rest. Only liked Contemporary (except for the monorail it felt to much like staying at the hilton) and had to many problems during my stay at boardwalk so unlikely to head back there any time soon.

For me? Wilderness Lodge.

Reason? The feeling of being in the woods, away from everything, yet close to everything via boat or bus and the absolutely gorgeous main lodge with it's wooden atrium. I also like the balconies on almost every room. Finally, I like that its no longer than a 5 minute walk to get to anything on Lodge property -- and even shorter once you learn the shortcuts in the lodge using the side elevators and the stairs that pop you out exactly where you want to be...

Love it.

I appreciate your opinion and thanks for not going off so passionately like some people do! Maybe because the GF was the first resort I every stayed at is why it is so significant to me. You are right about location, they really should finish the Walk Around the World. But I have never experienced a full monorail, maybe that's because of when I stay at the GF (February or April, October, and sometime in the summer)?

I agree, the GF doesn't have the best location, but of all the Deluxe Resorts we've stayed at, I honestly felt like I was getting the most for my money there. I prefer the location and room size of the Poly, but the condition in which the GF is kept and the condition of the rooms far surpasses that of the Polynesian. With the Poly, I feel like I'm paying a lot simply for convenience, where the GF offers exceptional service, cleaner and better maintained rooms and grounds.

Growing up we always stayed at the 3 monorail resorts (easy to get used to when your parents are paying). Eventually we tried Boardwalk, which was cool, and SSR on our last trip. Compared to the monorail 3, SSR suuuucked. Seemed so far away and really generic. I've never even been to WL, but after reading such good stuff about it around here I definitely want to check it out. When they want to, Disney can really nail it with resorts.

I got engaged at the poly (with a ring in your pocket who could resist popping the question on the beach) and really love the vibe of gf, but the contemporary might be my fave due to nostalgia.

I am glad you did not take my post as hostile. I value everyone’s opinion and I try not to make others feel like they are dumb if they don’t like what I like. I don’t think you were trying to do that at all but some people do make statements that seem to say that.

I think the first place you stay will always have a huge impact on what you like especially if the trip was a memorable one. It makes you want to go back and relive those good memories. I think that is why people get upset when they change things.

I am extremely passionate about the Polynesian but I often don’t think it is the best choice for some. I especially don’t enjoy it as much in the colder months. I think a resort like the GF and the Wilderness Lodge are a much better destination when the air is cool out because they are less tropical and more cozy.

Thanks for understanding my comments and not taking them as an attack on your comments. Keep sharing your experiences of the GF with others so they can make an informed choice of where to stay.

Hands down it has to be the Animal Kingdom Lodge. If you want to truly be immersed in an experience, then nothing beats AKL. The sights, sounds, and smells (yes smells lol) all win out here. The resort is immaculate and never ceases to amaze me about the things I missed from the previous visit. It places you in the heart of Africa and gives the guest so much. The pools, the restaurants, and the views just can't be beat. :D

IMO, Animal Kingdom Lodge is the best. The only real complaint I can think of is it's location relative to some of the parks. Otherwise, I find it to be the best of the Deluxe resorts.
