Best Christmas Resort

One of the best things about returning from a trip to the World is the start of a new planning process for your next trip!!

My hubby and I have said for awhile now that we want to see Disney World at Christmas. In my 20+ times of going, I have never seen it decorated or experienced any of the fun that goes with the holiday and so we are certain that the next time we go back it will be while it is decorated for Christmas. It will probably be in 2013.

With that said, we want to know which resort is the best to stay at for the Holiday season? We are looking at overall Holiday atmosphere of the resort plus any cutesy little things the resort may do that may be somewhat unknown unless you've stayed there before. We will most likely stay in a Deluxe as we got a little spoiled this last time around staying at Wilderness Lodge. But, if you know something that a Value or Moderate does, they are not off the table either! Thanks for your input in advance!!

We have stayed at Wilderness Lodge twice for Christmas and it is (For us anyway) hands down the best. The swags, the trees at every turn, and just the feel and atmosphere of the resort. I do agree that going on the Christmas "tour" by hitting all the resorts is actually pretty fun. We just moved my back back to Chicago this past December and on the way to the airport we stopped at WDW and rode the monorail loop looking at each resort on the lines decorations. It didn't take a lot of time and my mom was crying by the time we left.

We usually stay at the boardwalk, and we go thanksgiving week. Not all decorations are up, yet. (I'm assuming since they usually get put up, while we are there.) It's beautiful, last year they sold these cute gingerbread houses out of a larger gingerbread house that had this really cool stitch on it that was made all out of candy. They also have a big gingerbread display that includes Donald & co.

We stayed at WL in Dec of 2010. It jumped to the top of my list mainly b/c of the holiday decor. We visited a handful of the deluxe resorts during the trip and while we really liked WL's decor, it didn't wind up on top as our fave of what we saw. Here are our top 3....

1. Grand Floridian
2. Wilderness Lodge
3. Animal Kingdom Lodge

To be perfectly honest, I felt WL and AKL were similar enough that you really can't go wrong with either one in regards to holiday decor.

I think GF was more like how I'd do it if I were to put a big tree in my house. Too bad there aren't actual apartments you can stay in at DHS so you can be in the middle of Osborne Lights. Now that would be AWESOME! Ok - back to reality. :D

GF and WL are my favorites. BWI and BC would be the worst.

They cut back a lot on decorations in hotels. If they hadn't, I'd still have AKL and Poly tying for second.

The GF has the most beautiful flowers, lots of red and white poinsettias. They also have little special touches. At the entrance of the main lobby they give away hot coco and fresh roasted chestnuts. I have gone down almost every year at Christmas to the Grand for those reasons.

I knew about the cocoa, but roasted chestnuts too?! I'm so psyched for this coming December!
