However, I can understand why the wait might be worth it for small kids.

kids would have to do just about every kid trick in the book to convince me to set aside time for that ride. We're talking keeping their rooms clean, eating vegetables, keeping the noises down and incorporating pleasantries into their daily behavior and nag me silly starting well before getting on a plane bound for MCO to remind me of all of the great changes they've made before I'd cave in.

That's how I felt about Barnstormer. I rode that once and crossed it off the list! Thankfully my boys were very tall for there ages and we just skipped right to BTMRR (actually, I think SM at DLR, which has a lower ht. requirement, so both boys rode at 3).

I realize this is not the question, but since the original poster mentioned the terrible "investment" of Slinky Dog, I must tell you the much worst investment is the Summit Plummet at Blizard Beach. I have waited an hour for that 8 seconds (counting the runout at the bottom).

I look at what I call the ride to line ratio. Basically, how long of a ride do I get compared the amount of wait time. For example, I might wait 45 minutes for Pirates of the Caribbean, which is 15 minutes (in California. Slightly less in Florida, but still acceptable.) That's about a 3 to one wait to ride ratio. However, if I wait the same 45 minutes for Peter Pan's Flight for a roughly 2 minute ride, that's an approximately 20 to one line to ride ratio. Much less return for the 45 minute time investment. Even a 15 minute wait on Peter Pan for the 2 minute ride would be only about 7 to one investment, as opposed to the 3 to one wait for Pirates.
Yes, still have to figure in how much I want to see an attraction, regardless of wait time, which ones are my favorites regardless of wait, etc., but it gives me a good barometer to measure if my wait was worth it.
